What's involved in 'patching the kernel'? about wfb-ng HOT 5 CLOSED

You can use prebuilt kernel for Raspberry PI from ez-wifibroadcast. Just download their SD-card image and replace wifibroadcast binaries. I don't use RPI for TX or RX (use NanoPI NEO instead) so I don't have prebuilt kernel for RPI

Yes, you are correct. You need to apply patches to kernel sources and rebuild kernel and modules.

how did you get it to work on another board? i thought that wifibroadcast was tied to the pi gpu?

Wifibroadcast is not tied to any GPU - it operates with UDP packets. But to get RTP stream you need a video encoder (with encode raw data from camera to x264 stream). In my case RPI is only used for video encoding (becase RPI Zero is too slow to do anything else) and all other tasks (including wifibroadcast) are done by other board (NanoPI NEO2).
