bill-status's Introduction

The 116th Congress job runs at 4, 8, and 12 every 4 hours. The 115th Congress job runs at 6, 10, and 2 every 4 hours. The 114th Congress job runs at 2 daily.

In January 2020, there will be a change to the <committee> element associated with individual actions in BILLSTATUS files. It will become the <committees> element. We anticipate that this will impact programs that consume Bill Status information. For additional detail, please see Issue #147

Bill Status

At the direction of the U.S. House of Representatives Appropriations Committee, in support of the Legislative Branch Bulk Data Task Force, the Government Publishing (GPO), the Library of Congress (LOC), the Clerk of the House, and the Secretary of the Senate are making Bill Status information in XML format available through the GPO’s Bulk Data repository starting with the 113th Congress.

Bill Status XML is now available at http://www.gpo.gov/fdsys/bulkdata/BILLSTATUS, and we run the update job every 4 hours.

Actions related to amendments to amendments are now available and sample files are listed below.

Public Meetings

A technical meeting is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, April 27, 2016, from 10:30-12:00 in Washington, D.C., in the Cannon House Office Building conference room on the first floor near Congressman Lance's office (133). The meeting will be a follow-up to our December meeting.

REMOTE PARTICIPATION: The Law Library of Congress has graciously agreed to host the BDTF’s April 27th meeting online. This will allow individuals who cannot join us in the Cannon House Office Building to attend tomorrow’s meeting remotely. The link to the meeting is https://login.icohere.com/LawLib?pnum=PMD47988. It will be available at approximately 10:15 in time for the 10:30 am meeting.
