I'm sure I'm doing something very obviously wrong, but I can't figure out what.

Compiling mods is a pain. There are no instructions to be found anywhere, and the web is full of non-working and sketchy download links. I'm trying to compile Openwarfare currently, and the buildscript needs linker_pc.exe. Of course no link anywhere on where to find this, so I'm glad I found your iw3linker.

From what I understand to compile a mod I need to:

1. Copy the root of the mod source to the CoD4 installation directory
2. Copy linker_pc.exe and lnkpatch.dll to the CoD4 installation directory
3. Run some script depending on the mod to actually build (in Openwarfare's case that would be makeMod.bat) it

Doing this I resolved basically every error I encountered except the one in the title of this issue: Coudn't load fileSyscheck.cfg. Make sure Call of Duty is run from the correct folder.. Searching for a solution on the internet I found some people with cracked copies of the game reinstalling some files, but in my case this is a legit copy of the game downloaded directly from Steam with only the latest CoD4X installed.
fileSysCheck.cfg seems to be located in main/iw_00.iwd.
