chocolatey-packages's Issues

PyCharm out of date

Hi,

It seems that PyCharm is out of date and not automatically updating.

I have a setup running to automatically update other JetBrains packages (like pycharm-community, clion-ide and goland)

If you want I an willing to automatically maintain this package in my repo using AU.

Please let me know what you want to do.

Maurice (aka mkevenaar)

Riot-Web rebranded to Element

So riot-web has rebranded to Element.
https://element.io/blog/welcome-to-element/

The package name element is available on chocolatey.org, so maybe deprecate the riot-web package and have that last version depend on a new element package?

Also, would it be possible for the installers to be included inside the package instead of downloaded at runtime?

Wrong installer url

When updating pia i get an error, the installer is referring to a non existing download:
remote file either doesn't exist, is unauthorized, or is forbidden for url 'https://installers.privateinternetaccess.com/download/pia-windows-x64-2.5-05652.exe'. Exception calling "GetResponse" with "0" argument(s): "The remote server returned an error: (403) Forbidden."

tor/tor-browser: support offline install

Steps to reproduce

  1. Download tor-win64-0.4.6.9.zip to %TEMP%\chocolatey\tor\0.4.6.9.
  2. Run cinst -y tor

Expected behaviour

Pre-downloaded file used for installation.

Actual behaviour

tor v0.4.6.9 [Approved]
tor package files install completed. Performing other installation steps.
Attempt to get headers for https://archive.torproject.org/tor-package-archive/torbrowser/11.0.3/tor-win64-0.4.6.9.zip failed.
The remote file either doesn't exist, is unauthorized, or is forbidden for url 'https://archive.torproject.org/tor-package-archive/torbrowser
/11.0.3/tor-win64-0.4.6.9.zip'. Exception calling "GetResponse" with "0" argument(s): "The underlying connection was closed: An unexpected error occurred on a send."
Downloading tor 64 bit
  from 'https://archive.torproject.org/tor-package-archive/torbrowser/11.0.3/tor-win64-0.4.6.9.zip'

PS: Same error for tor-browser.

Magica Voxel 0.99.4.2 64-bit checksum is incorrect

The checksum for the 64-bit version of Magica Voxel is incorrect and the package refuses to install as a result.

Error - hashes do not match. Actual value was 'A51CC613409CB3AAE61650F41AAED6828A4FD497C2C92ADD7EB06B879EC08233'

github-desktop won't upgrade since version 2.8.0

STILL cannot upgrade from 2.7.2. to version any version from 2.8.0-2.8.3. STILL same error message as the others (on Chocolatey's github-desktop package page):

ERROR: Cannot process argument transformation on parameter 'file'. Cannot convert value to type System.String.
The upgrade of github-desktop was NOT successful.
Error while running 'C:\ProgramData\chocolatey\lib\github-desktop\tools\chocolateyinstall.ps1'.

I found a true silent switch for github-desktop, but don't know how to submit a proper PR (except for software updates)

It always annoyed me so much that github-desktop would not only show an intrusive UI, but also launch after install. /S /nolaunch never worked for me

I did a good amount of research and finally found something that works: you simply have to pass -s to GitHubDesktopSetup-x64.exe

For now, I'll add --ia="'-s'" to my choco backups. I tested it and it works, I believe you'll end up making it default.

Thanks for maintaining the package!

WPD - invalid checksum

There is an error in the 1.3.1203 version:

Error - hashes do not match. Actual value was 'F703EFBC723780FD1884E45966E6AAC4E07BBDABD0848F045E555886BF534E31'.

Probably because the rules have been update the 9th october.

[outdated] itch.io

The package provided through Chocolatey, v25.6.2, is outdated. The most recent version is v26.1.9.

Tinywall checksum incorrect

Just a heads up: Hashes don't match.

Downloading tinywall
  from 'https://tinywall.pados.hu/ccount/click.php?id=3'
Progress: 100% - Completed download of C:\Users\***\AppData\Local\Temp\chocolatey\tinywall\2.1.20190316\TinyWallInstaller.msi (1.16 MB).
Download of TinyWallInstaller.msi (1.16 MB) completed.
Error - hashes do not match. Actual value was '85115EB9DD1F5B2A7D6C63DCC46F49F8554C63C7687331B4D348256E27F7587A'.

Choosing a specific version doesn't work

Chocolatey lets you use the --version parameter to download a specific version of a package. However, doing this with Element-Desktop doesn't seem to work. The package itself is indeed the version that you specify using the parameter, but the installer that gets downloaded is for the latest version instead. I got 1.11.50 instead of 1.11.49.

Please update/fix Brave

A new version of brave is out.
Also when you try to uninstall the package via choco it will keep the files and you will have to uninstall using windows uninstaller.

[exiftoolgui] crashes with access violation

Attempting to run exiftool 5.16.20211222 results in a message box with the error message:

Access violation at address 758AB248 in module 'shell32.dll'.
Read of address 05630070

From googling this seems to be a result of exiftoolgui trying and failing to write files to the directory it was run from, in this case C:\ProgramData\bin\

Tor is outdated

The expert bundle with tor 0.4.8.9 is available, see https://www.torproject.org/download/tor/

Moreover, I think there's a problem with the current package. It says 0.4.8.7, but in fact it seems to install the older 0.4.7.15 (from expert bundle 12.5.6.

Thanks for maintaining this!

IDA Freeware - Invalid Checksum

Installation of IDA Free with choco install ida-free currently fails with the following error:

Error - hashes do not match. Actual value was '64C4073CA57DC612963413C337FD7F802BF812E01E655D0F4F33827342F7A772'.

The advertised SHA1 hash of the installer does indeed match my local file, so I am led to believe that the file is intact, but the version distributed by HexRays has changed in some way.

Update with more info:

Current SHA256 hash checked by the install script:
4C96E3AE2B33D5D69F338E332B548410252A89092A0305335705BE650162C3CE

SHA256 hash of valid file:
64C4073CA57DC612963413C337FD7F802BF812E01E655D0F4F33827342F7A772

Also, as a side-issue, forcing install with --ignore-checksums returns a pop-up message indicating that the parameters "/VERYSILENT /SUPPRESSMSGBOXES /NORESTART /SP-" failed to validate, and that parameters should start with "--". I am not sure whether those parameters are specifically targeted towards the IDA installer or if they are universal and they simply changed their installer.

Software Request: ProtonDrive

Hello,

I would love to see ProtonDrive added to Chocolatey.
Since you already support ProtonVPN I thought that you
might be the right person to add ProtonDrive as well.

And thanks for maintaining so much Software I use.
Do you have a buymeacoffee page?

Kind regards,
Kevin

Signal extraction instead of installation

Hey there,
why is your signal package just extracting the NSIS Installer instead of running it?

AutoHotKey error on PIA clean install Win11 x64 - "line does not contain a recognized action"

I just ran a clean install of PIA on my Win11 x64 system and received an error message from AutoHotKey during the installation. It does not appear to block the installation, as PIA installed and automatically started.

Side-note, it would be much better if it didn't auto-start as that can interfere with bulk package updates (like when running choco update all). Any packages that attempt to download while the VPN is being established will fail, then any other after tunnel is established will be at lower speeds.

Text of error message in case image doesn't upload:

piaInstall.ahk
Error: This line does not contain a recognized action.

Text: #NoEnv
Line: 1
File: C:\ProgramData\chocolatey\lib\pia\tools\piaInstall.ahk

The program will exit.

Allow Terminus/Tabby parameters for 'one-per-server' installation.

Default installer installs Terminus/Tabby in user profile's folder. This is ok and proper for desktop.
In some case's I'd suggest to add choco parameters allowing us to use '/allusers /s' install parameters in some 'per server' installations.
Optionally we could also add the Installed folder to PATH as it's nice to run tabby by name instead of clicking an icon.

Consider passing the actual checksums through with --checksum --checksum64 once you validate the checksums are appropriate. A less secure option is to pass --ignore-checksums if necessary.

WinXcorners fails to install when trying to download the zip from google

When trying to install using choco install winxcorners:

ERROR: The remote file either doesn't exist, is unauthorized, or is forbidden for url 'https://doc-0k-a8-docs.googleusercontent.com/docs/securesc/ha0ro937gcuc7l7deffksulhg5h7mbp1/rmsbf3b1n6rg93jscurh80t5fps7m5l6/1562515200000/12606421919403606798/*/0B_iiJl28uix-MG84QTI2cFlNUWs?e=download'. Exception calling "GetResponse" with "0" argument(s): "The remote server returned an error: (403) Forbidden."

As the zip exists on Google Drive, the link will likely need to be periodically updated.

If instead the latest beta off of the GitHub is used, then this will likely not be an issue.
