Apply Metadata from a ComicRack Database (ComicDB.xml)

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.ComicRack won't write ComicInfo.xml to CBZs on my NTFS shares on my linux
file server. Issue has to do with Alternate Streams I believe.
2.ComicTagger will.
3.So, either include a function in ComicTagger to read a ComicDB.xml and apply
contained metadata to referenced files or provide a script that accomplishes
the same goal (To be posted on ComicRack forum).

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
ComicTagger v1.1.10b x32
ComicRack v0.9.175 x64

Add support for authenticated proxy servers

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Launch ComicTagger at work
2. ComicTagger fails to connect to the internet because it has to access the
Internet through a proxy server that requires authentication.
3. PROFIT!!

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

I expect access to the Internet. Instead I get a timeout.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

1.1.8-beta

Please provide any additional information below.

This is an enhancement request, and not a defect. I understand that.

CBR won't load in ComicTagger

What steps will reproduce the problem?
Drag .cbr file into ComicTagger or use file -> open

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
CBR should load into Comictagger.
I get "No comic archives were found." if one cbr is dragged in or "No comic
archives were found." if multiple cbr's are dragged in.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
ComicTagger 1.1.10-beta
OS X 10.9.1 Build 13B42
WinRAR for Mac v5.01

Please provide any additional information below.
If I drag a cbz file in, then comictagger recognizes it right away. I've also
tested WinRar in the command line, and it will extract cbr files: unrar e
test.cbr. I've also cleared the cache and reset all the default settings.

colon (":") handling

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Opening comictagger
2. Tagging a comic that in it's name contains a colon and not being able to
decide
what to do with this kind of special characters.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
The input is "Series: Blah blah"
The output that I was expecting was "Series- Blah blah"
The output that I get is "Series - Blah blah"

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
As of now I'm using version 1.1.9-beta
OSX Lion

Please provide any additional information below.
I would like to see the ability to determine how to handle the colon or other
special characters.
I liked the way the colon was handle in version 1.1.7 because that way I could
determine if the series title had a colon or a hyphen easily. For now I think
I'll go back to version 1.1.7

Multiple files read-only, unable to edit metatags, admin doesn't resolve access issues

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.Select any of the methods for tag info

3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

Random files and folders are now acting as read-only, while in the properties
window of said files/folders, the selection box is blued out, rather than
ticked. While I can find the relevant tag info, I cannot update the archive, as
the save option is not available. It has occurred with both old and new files,
but I cannot identify any particular common factor which is causing this. I've
tried running cmd.prompt and changing attributes for the particular folders
which have been affected, but after I change the values, they just return to
read only. Anything I might have missed?

Allow hints to Auto-Tag

Feature request:

If I select some files in the list, then type "Foo" into the series field, then
click "Auto-Tag", it would be nice if the autotag process would (if it doesn't
find anything normally), retried the search replacing the non-numeric parts of
the file name with "Foo".

Allow applying tags to several issues at once

Some operations can be performed on several files at once, e.g. auto-tagging.

However, you can’t edit tags on several files at once; if you try, you will
only affect one of them seemingly at random.

e.g. I want to apply 'Manga: No' and 'Maturity Rating: Mature 17+' to a set of
files, I have to set those tags on every file separately instead of setting it
once and 'apply all' or something like that.

It would be nice to be able to do that.

Copying Tag issue

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.Import Comic
2.Try to copy ComicRack tags to ComicBookLover
3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
It should copy the tags but what it does is to open a dialog box that says: "If
you copy tags now unsaved data may be lost. Are you sure?", the thing is I
haven't done any changes. So what happens is I can't copy the tags.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
ComicTagger v1.1.9-beta on Windows 7 Professional x86

Please provide any additional information below.

I think I know what the problem is,in the ComicInfo.xml I had change the Page
Type of one page to Advertisement using ComicRack, in ComicTagger then I
noticed that in the pages tab the page I had marked as Advertisement didn't
appear and neither did the pages after that one on the list of the pages tab.It
seems that ComicTagger doesn't recognize the Advertisement page type when
written by ComicRack because in ComicTagger that tag is written
incorrectly("Advertisment") and it causes a conflict.

Keep configuration changes for AutoTag

I often a lot of comics in different folders, and I tick two options, ignore

ComicTagger v1.1.12-beta

GUI or command line?

    new_metadata = comicVine.fetchIssueData( selector.volume_id, selector.issue_number, self.settings )

I have done some debugging and this happens if "text" variable is passed as an
empty string or a int.

I have fixed it with attached patch for comictaggerlib/issuestring.py, but
haven't investigated if this is the correct method - patch just prevents the
exception - it should be investigated why int or empty string gets here.

Hanging on import of CBZ files with old (ComicRack?) tags

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Open some CBZ files with some legacy tags (no idea where they really come
from)
2. It's added to the list, but the import dialog is stuck
3. Have to Cancel the import (comic is loaded into the list anyway), then
restart importing
4. Repeat for each file like this

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Not hanging. Something about the xml tags is causing a problem at reading.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
1.1.9 on OS X 10.8.3

Please provide any additional information below.
I extracted one of these files, and found the attached ComicInfo.xml
Looks like somewhere, it had tags applied, but they aren't being read correctly
by ComicTagger
After canceling, the comic is in the list, and shows the checkbox for ComicRack
tags. But no tags are read or shown in the app
Not every CBZ that appears to already have ComicRack tags has this issue though.
Once the comic is in the list, I can remove the ComicRack tags, and work as
normal.
Biggest issue is the tedious and manual effort for importing them; especially
if you encounter a large batch of these kinds of files.

Auto tag doesn't handle renamed files gracefully

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Add a folder of stuff.
2. Go into the Finder (or terminal or whatever) and rename one of the files in

Should at least just say something like "can't find file" and move on.

Search is severely affected by roman numerals in title

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Try searching for something like "Star Wars Crimson Empire II"
2. Zero value added by the roman numerals in manual search
3. AutoTag seems to actively ignore result with roman numerals
4. AutoTag cannot correctly identify these comics

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Ignoring in manual search is not so bad (some min character length is fine).
But the AutoTag should consider ComicVine results with roman numerals as
options. Right now, if only uses results with no numerals.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
1.1.9 on OS X 10.8.3

Please provide any additional information below.
Additionally, it would be a lot smarter to consider roman numerals as possible
numbers as well.

Add function for group title change, and group re-numbering

With some bad file names, I end up needing to either work completely manually;
or start changing the files names in the finder.
It would be a lot easier to edit the title/book field in a group of files at
once.
Same idea, renumbering some group with sequential numbers. The file names are
usually in alpha order; but aren't parsed right (example, "3of4"). Instead of
changing all the tags manually, I want to fix a batch, then re-try AutoTag

Make access files outside of Makefile (Dropbox !? Come on…)

On the first line of the Makefile, there is "TAGGER_BASE :=
$(HOME)/Dropbox/tagger/comictagger"

___
$ svn up
$ make
grep: /Users/dClauzel/Dropbox/tagger/comictagger/comictaggerlib/ctversion.py:
No such file or directory
cat: /Users/dClauzel/Dropbox/tagger/comictagger/project_password.txt: No such
file or directory
rm -rf *~ *.pyc *.pyo
rm -rf scripts/*.pyc
cd comictaggerlib; rm -f *~ *.pyc *.pyo
/Users/dClauzel/Travail/Mac OS X/sandbox/Compile/comictagger/comictaggerlib
rm -rf dist MANIFEST
rm -rf *.deb
rm -rf logdict*.log
make -C mac clean

That is NOT GOOD at all for security.

File can not be renamed when tag Month == 3

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Change the month-tag of any existing comic to 3
2. rightclick -> rename OR ctrl/n
3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

Usually a new window pops up asking me to confirm the renaming. But when Month
== 3 literally nothing happens.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

v1.1.2-beta
Ubuntu 12.10 32bit
GUI

Please provide any additional information below.

-Installed via pip.
-renaming template:%series% V%volume% #%issue% (of %issuecount%) (%year%)
--info: changing the template didnt help
-read- and modify style: ComicRack

to be sure the problem was not a corrupt file I even made my own "comic" with
some pictures i downloaded from google. Still it only was renamed in 11 out of
12 months.

Search stopped returning meaningful results

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Add a comic to the queue
2. Use Search Online, Auto-Identify, or Auto-Tag (Search Online is best to see
this problem though)
3. Wait several minutes
4. In the list of search results, notice that there's thousands and thousands
of results, 99.9% of which aren't relevant, as if it's returning the entire
database of series titles.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Should return just the few comic series that match the search query.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
1.1.9beta Mac

Please provide any additional information below.
Been using ComicTagger 1.19beta on the Mac for a year or so now. It's always
worked great... a few minor bugs, like when it doesn't revert the mouse pointer
back from the B&W pinwheel, but minor stuff. Until, this week. Now, whenever
I search for a comic series, either using Search Online, Auto-Identify, or
Auto-Tag, exactly like I always have, it searches for minutes at a time, and
returns thousands of results... it looks like a list of every comic series
ever. You can manually scroll through the list and pick what you're looking
for, but for some reason, the search functionality is totally broken all of a
sudden. I haven't done any updates or re-installs lately. (Auto-Tag also only
sometimes works now because of this.) I've tried clearing the cache just in
case, but it hasn't helped. Is there any way I can post up some logs or
something to help diagnose what's going wrong?

Enhancement - Option to clear existing information when searching

What version of ComicTagger are you using?
1.12.1-beta

On what operating system (Mac, Linux, Windows)? What version?
Windows 7 x64

GUI or command line?
GUI

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Open a comic which already has comic information.
2. Add some additional information (eg: Format)
3. Search online for the comic's information
4. Comic information is appended to the original (eg: Format remains)

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I will rarely do manual editing, so I would prefer if the 'Search Online'
always replaces any existing information. This is not always desirable though,
so an option would be nice.

Please provide any additional information below.

Force Comic Vine Series ID for Auto-Tag

Suggestion - allow user to specify the series ID on Comic Vine while using
Auto-Tag. Sometimes I've found the proper series on Comic Vine, but getting
comictagger to find the series while searching has caused problems.
