Wherever there is room for Stand News and Goddess of Democracy, there is Metaverse." This is the title of the last issue from Likecoin founder Kin in 2021. It is my favorite sentence among counterless explanations for Metaverse in 2021. If there is anything that can be improved further, I will replace "Metaverse" with Web 3.0, which is also the core concept of our New Year's campaign.

Numbers was born because we want to use technology to prevent fake news and misinformation. Then, we traveled all the way to NFT and Metaverse. The world is changing rapidly, but "champion the purity of digital media enabling people to think more critically about the world around them" is always the core value of Numbers. Therefore, this New Year's event in collaboration with The Reporters is particularly meaningful to us.

The Reporter do not have a global reputation (not yet) like Reuters who we collaborated at the end of 2020. However, they play an important role in the Chinese news industry in Asia. The topics they cover include Taiwan’s politics, global topics, Hong Kong’s national security law, problems in offshore fisheries, and even the impact of modern society to traditional culture, etc. In the last years, they have been always upholding the core spirit of openness and in-depth reporting along the way. This spirit is also the most important concept in Web 3.0.

As someone with a deep physics background, I definitely understand that no science or technology can play the role of god and save the world. Science and technologies (almost) always solve one problem, and then create new problems, mostly bigger problems than the existing ones. Perhaps that's the same for Web 3.0 as well, but so what? Isn't human history full of trial and error but we still work hard to find better and better solutions and move on?

In short, I really hope to encourage everyone to participate in the New Year’s campaign, archive the first day of 2022 together.

In the Web 3.0 world, it is not up to Reuters or the Associated Press to decide what are the important moments to be recorded anymore. In the era of co-creation and co-record, it is up to everyone to record the historical moment together. News media may no longer be "manufacturing" the news but play the role toe select news that they think may match the best interests of their readers. The most important change is, there is no any authorities or commercial companies that can erase the historical moments that we archive together.

Besides the potential change that may impact the news media industry, it is also going to be the first campaign that we run for the community to experience the economy of Capture-to-Earn. Capture-to-Earn doesn't mean that anyone can take a random photo and get airdop. It only works if you may help capture photos with good integrity at the required time and location.

"After Stand News is closed, I hope to it will be replaced by projects like Numbers who develop Web 3.0 technologies and preserve decentralized information." This is the expectation Kin has to Numbers. There is still a long way to go, also, as I mentioned to the interviewer that there is no guarantee of success to every revolution and we may fail. But who knows, I still believe that Numbers Protocol will play an important role and bring more changes to the society in 2022.

「那裏容得下立場新聞和**女神，那裏就是元宇宙」這是 Likecoin 創辦人 Kin 2021 年最後一刊的標題，也是 2021 年與元宇宙相關的各種文字裡我最喜歡的一句話。如果說還有什麼可以雞蛋裡挑骨頭的，我會把「元宇宙」改為 Web 3.0，這也是新年紀實活動的核心理念。

Numbers 從假新聞的議題出發一路走到 NFT 與 Metaverse，世界快速地轉變，但「讓數位內容的呈現回歸多元化、讓討論有更開放的空間」，是不變的核心價值。也因此，這次與報導者合作的新年活動對我們來說特別有意義。

報導者並不像 2020 年底合作的路透社有著響亮的全球名聲 (not yet)，但他們卻是亞洲中文獨立報導的重要指標，無論是台灣政治、國際情勢、原住民權益、香港國安法、疫情風暴、遠洋漁業、甚至傳統文化面臨衝擊等等，一路走來都秉持開放與深度報導的核心精神，這樣的精神也是我相信 Web 3.0 最重要的理念。

身為一個物理人，我深刻了解沒有任何科學或技術是救世主，所有的科學與技術都只是解決了一個問題，然後又會帶來新的問題 (通常還更大)，或許 Web 3.0 也是這樣，但人類世界不就是一直重蹈覆轍但我們會螺旋向上持續前進嗎？

以後，什麼重要、什麼不重要不會只是路透社或美聯社的角度，而是每一個人的角度，新聞也可能不再是「製造」，而是「選物」的角色，不同的媒體有不同的立場來篩選對讀者有最大利益的新聞，更重要的是，任何一個強權或者商業公司都無法抹除這筆歷史的痕跡了。

活動有一點參加門檻，如果想要獲得獎金需要 hold 3 NUM in wallet，不過如果只是體驗 Web 3.0 我想你也不會在意那個獎金的 :P。

「希望取而代之的會是像 Numbers 這般掌握新世代技術的驗證人，一起建構一個真正分散式、資訊可信度高的生態。」這是 Kin 對 Numbers 的期待，路很長還有很多事情要做、要考慮，如同我跟面試者說的，又或許最後這一切都會失敗，But who knows，2022 希望我們朝著這個方向能夠更前進一步。
