batterymode's Issues

Hotkey to open Battery Mode tray flyout

Like all other Windows tray/notification area icons which have a hotkey, allow a hotkey to popup Battery Mode flyout. Preferably with Win key combination since all other applets there use Win + something

UI not fully shown

After some time of running the program, the UI is no longer shown after clickin on taskbar icon:

Workaround:

Close and restart BatteryMode

System:

HP Laptop with AMD ryzen 3 5300U with Vega iGPU, Windows 10 22H2 19045.3208 x64 German

advices

1.Think completely and work and that thinking should be done at once ,as little thinking causes mistakes, do like this when answering also

2.think of each bit of how it can be improved

3.Increase patience

4.Do important work first

5.If u can't reproduce a bug normally then test thoroughly and try to repro for 2,3 times

6.As far as possible try to reproduce bugs in win1064b as most of the users in the world use win10

Ability to change the default color to white

Would it be possible to change the default (percentage) color to white? At the moment it's yellow(ish) and does not match my other taskbar icons. Would be great if it would be possible to change it to white. Or maybe change the color depending on the status, red for low battery, green for normal and blue for charging.

Feature Request: Large battery percentage on-screen indicator on hotkey

When using a full-screen app (such as a video player) or using TaskBar auto-hide feature, it is not very easy to check the battery percentage. Since this utility already has an on-screen indicator feature (for power mode change) and global hot-key feature, how about adding feature to show a large battery percentage text on screen when a user-defined hot-key is pressed?

In my opinion, rather than at the centre of the screen which would block the view, it would be better to display the number text for battery percentage at the cornor of the screen, like the clock on TV for morning television shows.

Add function to set battery mode according to charger power

Could you please add a function to set battery mode according to charger power automatically.

For example, I want to use high-performance mode when I connect my laptop to 135W AC in my home while using balanced mode when I'm outside and using a 65W PD charger. This function may help others who want to use the different chargers in different situations:)

The indicator for changing the power plan is always displayed.

The problem occurred when I changed the setting of the icon display when switching the power plan from hidden->primary monitor->all.
I changed the indicator settings from hidden->primary monitor->all and now the indicator keeps showing up on all displays except the main display.
Changing the display settings or power plan does not change the situation.

Here is the dump file when this problem occurred.
https://mirror2.iroserver.net/.BatteryMode/BatteryMode64.DMP

I then restarted BatteryMode and it returned to normal.
However, after changing the indicator settings several times, the indicator stopped showing up regardless of the setting or plan.

Add graphs for battery usage

I think it would be great if the app added basic graphs and statistics related to the battery usage. The FOSS app powir, and Pure Battery Analytics have similar features.

This can be done easily by the windows CMD 'powercfg /batteryreport', which generates a nice report for battery usage. This can be used to create a basic graph. Ideally I am looking for a 24 or 48-hour battery graph, but other views will also be nice.

Auto Brightness / Monitor Features

Hi there,

I'm this using on my desktop pc to reduce consumption on daily use. i set my power saver scheme to %50 cpu power limit and i can switch easily between schemes with this app

Also brightness feature is very helpful but i can't configure brightness with scheduler depends on hour. it will be very helpful

For example
Scheduler > Clock > 9PM > Brightness %30

Or it can be separated feature too beside scheduler

Also these can be very helpful
-ability to sync/link 2 monitor brightness
-a color filter on screens to mimic nightshift / flux with on/off switch from context menu and scheduler support
-ability to hide selected power schemes from popup menu. i guess many people only switches between 2 power schemes

Minor UI suggestions
-ability to hide monitor icons on left side of sliders
-aligning monitor name text to left will look better

Thanks for developing this useful app

[Question] Updating mouse tooltip while adjusting brightness...

image

@artar94 or any other contributor
if i hover my mouse over the taskbar icon and while i use the mouse wheel to adjust the brightness then the percentage indicator in the tool-tip does not update --- instead of having to click the icon before adjusting the brightness...

is this possible or feasible to implement? i'm just asking before i go and try implementing it and end up at a dead end...

External Monitor Brightness Issue

I use a portable monitor just like this one https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08K2Q1J7N.
I observed that this kind of monitor interprets the brightness settings differently from the slider value.

My investigation revealed that the maximum brightness value on the monitor is reached when the slider is set to 39%. Any value above that produces erratic and non-sequential brightness values on the monitor.
Upon doing some calculations, I found that the monitor interprets the value of the brightness slider using the formula:

Formula: brightness = (slider * 255)/100

Is it possible that the application can be updated such that on monitors that interpret the slider values differently (like this one), there is a way to change the maximum value of the slider to something other than 100?

Thanks.

Feature Request: monitor brightness also changes system Light/Dark theme

Thanks for this useful utility application. Since it already has a feature to control the monitor brightness, how about adding a feature to link the Light/Dark theme mode of Windows 10/11 to monitor brightness control? I do not mean the theme of this utility, but of Windows.

In my opinion, if one sets the brightenss of the monitor to a very low value (like 0% or 10%), it probably means that he is in a dark environment and would want the Windows theme to be dark. If one sets the monitor brightness to a very high value like 100%, he would probably want the Windows theme to be light. So, if this utility has an option like "Set Windows theme to Light when brightness is above [ ]%" and "Set Windows theme to Dark when brightness is below [ ]%", I think it would be convenient.

From my quick research, the system Light/Dark mode can be simply set by changing a registry value:

it can be set / retrieved through the AppsUseLightTheme key at the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Themes\Personalize registry path. https://stackoverflow.com/a/51336913

I thought that I might do this using the "scheduler" feature, but for the monitor property, there only were "turn on", "turn off", "dimmed", not "brightness change", so I think it is not possible.

Make the brightness slider move in steps/increments like the Windows Power Options slider in Control Panel

If you click to the left or right of Windows Power Options brightness slider in Control Panel or the one in Windows Mobility Center, it moves in increments. But the Battery mode power slider does not move like that if we click to the left or right. It directly jumps to that level of brightness.

Is it possible to implement the Windows like behavior so e.g. we can bring down brightness in increments of 20%? From 100% -> 80%, 60%, 40% and so on?

[Suggestion] Add windows 11 icon

As of windows 11 (build 22000.176(latest Beta build)), the battery icon has been rounded & the plug is changed to be opaque.
Images are as below(for reference; it is captured, so will be low-res).

If method to extract the source image is given, I'll upload those as well.

Gamma Correction along with Monitor Brightness

My monitor does not support a wide range of hardware brightness. Changing the gamma thru NVidia control panel is kinda painful repeatedly, only to simulate darker for reduced eye strain. Not a fan of black transparent overlays since they reflect on screenshots.

Priority of scrolling to change brightness

Priority of scrolling to change brightness can be added to the settings - for example user sets change brightness on scroll for both internal and external monitors - but brightness changes only for internal monitor when external monitor is connected - it can be change brightness on scroll if external monitor is connected and if it's disconnected - change brightness for internal monitor.

Delay when changing external monitor brightness

I have a delay when changing external monitor brightness by mouse wheel on tray sys icon DELL P2418D - there can be some sort of gear mini icon - for example on top of main sys tray icon in the bottom right corner during brightness is changing with delay on external monitor - maybe use internal ext monitors icons that are used in the popup with brightness sliders - if it's all possible.

Feature Request: Allow BATTERYMODE to Disable W11 Battery Icon In System Tray

Option that would allow BATTERYMODE to Disable W11 Battery Icon In System Tray so that we do not have TWO Battery Icons in System Tray.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies

(HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer) > DWORD Value HideSCAPower = 1 does not work.

Allow W11 Battery Icon to be REPLACED by BATTERYMODE in system tray.

Win11 22H2 compatibility

The current build doesn't hide the default Windows battery icon when BM is used. Can we have this fixed, please?

Recheck monitors by double clicking

Idea about recheck of present monitors - double clicking on sys tray icon could launch the recheck/refresh of currently available monitors and also could be added after sleep/wake up of the system.

Portable?

I started using this great program not long ago, using the portable version.
However, I cannot understand how the program manages to save its settings - no config files have appeared near the exe file.
How does the program do this?

If the settings are being saved somewhere in the registry on in AppData, then it is NOT portable,
and then I would ask to make it Truly portable and make it save the settings in a file near the EXE.

Configurable list of Power Schemes

It will be awesome if we could choose which power plans are show by your app. We only can choose hide/show classic power schemes and hide/show windows 10 power modes. But even hidden all them, I have 4 modes, and I would like to see only two of them by your app.

wrong color for ultimate performance in task bar

the ultimate performance color is purple, but the taskbar icon is white when it is on ultimate performance.... only the vista theme shows purple for it and also shows purple for the vista balance performance

Add the features found in BatteryBar Pro

It would be nice if you added the features found in BatteryBar Pro (such as the toolbar that shows the time left to charge/discharge the battery, pop-up notifications when the battery is low/critical/etc. and learning of the battery's usage in order to have a more accurate time of charging/discharging the battery). BatteryBar Pro can be found at https://batterybarpro.com/.
