Our data contains codes that indicate life status at time of capture. AOR, DOR and IOR (alive on road, dead on road and injured on road).

The NBN Atlas has a dataset of road kill records from a UK-wide citizen science project: https://registry.nbnatlas.org/public/show/dr1628

All records in this dataset would use:
vitality property with the vocabulary term dead
causeOfDeath property with the vocabulary term road kill

CenCOOS has a dataset of volunteer based surveys of marine mammal and seabird carcasses that wash-up on beaches. https://mlml.sjsu.edu/beachcombers/

I believe all records in this dataset would use:
vitality property with the vocabulary term "dead"

I'm not sure any of the other associated terms would be able to be implemented (causeOfDeath, underlyingCausesOfDeath, deathDate). The term vitalityRemarks if that is a general comments type of field.

"Mobilizing Millions of Marine Mollusks of the Eastern Seaboard" TCN is using vitality information to inform studies of biotic change. From the grant proposal "...Important trait data will also be incorporated. For the first time, molluscan occurrence data will distinguish between live- and dead-collected specimens, with a defined vocabulary for traits added to each record. Due to the long persistence of molluscan shells, the live/dead- collected distinction is crucial for all studies of biotic change using mollusks. Information on collecting dates will be refined where possible to increase resolution for detecting biotic changes.
