tech_for_good_hub_data's Issues

Option to download full dataset

From CR:

I wonder if it's worth either a) putting the full long list on there again but include columns with the different tags so that people can download the raw dataset with your additional analysis categories on it or b) adding an option to download the list of projects filtered

Make click through to category page clearer

From CR:

It took me a long time to notice that if you click on the box above the dropdown to filter it takes you to an overview - this is lovely - just finding a way to make that clearer.

Normalise similar tags

  • target-audience-people-with-health-conditions
  • target-audience-people-with-health-condition

Show number of projects in filter

It would also be nice to see the number of projects included in the filter - so if you filter by mental health it says '6 projects'

Change "problem" filter

I think change the word problem to focus - it's always a tough language point when you say a problem is a certain group of people. I think this filter should go before the 'audience' which is more specific.

Update README.md

To include

  • Brief background to the project
  • Contribution guidelines

Add graphic/table showing timetable

From CR:

2016
Oct 3rd – Nov 1st
Applications open (145)
Nov End Longlist published (50)
December 22 applicants invited to submit a full application
2017
Jan - February Assessments and panel meeting
March
Final 10 grants approved

Review table totals in page#analysis

on some of the tables where the numbers don't equal the totals i.e. where the total of the column would be 11 or 9 successful projects rather than 10, I am assuming this is because some projects have more than one attribute or one can't be identified for them - is this correct?

Review longlist number in page#analysis

why in analysis do your refer to 46 longlisted where it was 50? I know you 'lost' some in cleaning the data but were 4 of those in the longlisted 50? Be useful for me to know what orgs they were (and indeed all the ones you couldn't find info for) so we have that simply for future reference

Add status and year to filters

From CR:

I was thinking you should add 'year' to this, so that we have an easy option to build on it in future Similarly, most people looking at this want to see who applied, who was long listed, who got to assessment (shortlisted) and who got funded - is it possible to add that filter?

Front page text

Outline of text from CR (needs proofing):

In October 2016 Comic Relief with Paul Hamlyn Foundation launched UK Tech for Good 2016-17, a funding programme. It was designed to include a simple first stage application process, which consisted of a publically available video, 100 word summary and a visual presentation. This attracted 145 applications which were reviewed by staff at both Paul Hamlyn Foundation to create a long list of our top 50 in November 2016 and to select our top 10 in March 2017.

The application process was designed to be digital-first - to find and fund those projects ready to succeed, but could also increase knowledge and collaboration amongst charities, digital agencies and funders.

Beehive Giving/CAST have analysed the applications to help identify patterns in demand, looking at the technology employed, stage of development, focus issues and target audiences. They have also created this web app to showcase the applications and make it easier to find relevant projects.

Add text to footer

(Will request logo use in due course)

Hide inactive filters

From CR:

When you filter - Is it possible to 'grey out' (hide/emphasise) the categories which are no longer relevant so if you filter by 'mental health' under the other drop down menus, you could only see the technologies used by those 6 applications?
