To reproduce:

• open the site
• fly to a location using the search field
• close the sidebar
• open the sidebar again. That's where the bug happens.

Might be related to routing.

On mobile? On all devices?

Consider inverting the colors. Maybe add a box-shadow.

Safari 14 now supports the webp image format used for the shade tiles (see Release Note).

We might want to adjust the incompatibility note that is displayed to iOS and Safari users.

Should not be concatenated in the client, but processed beforehand.

Is sometimes hidden on mobile and tablet. Is sometimes partially covered by sidebar on larger screens.

Search field + results shouldn't be hidden behind keyboard. Input shouldn't change the width of the sidebar.

The shade layers take quite some time to display. The underlying data is large, but maybe there is a way to optimize this, still.

At the moment, the note that appears in unsupported environments is rather general. Could be more specific.

The Time-to-Interactive of the map is rather long. Perhaps there should be something like a splash screen.

Instead of attempting to load the application no matter what, we could test if the client supports the webp image format. If not, we don't load the map, save data for the user, and show a static image of the map along with a note suggesting to try in a different browser.

On mobile, when a location marker is tapped and the tooltip appears, the small pointer triangle becomes mislocated (next to the tooltip)

In Safari, the shades are not displayed, instead a black background is visible. Likely due to Safari not supporting the webp format that the shade tilesets use.

Consider moving the logos somewhere else, e.g. to the sidebar.
