Want to contribute, but goals unclear

Testing is something I find very helpful and I would love to test my Telegraf bots. If there is something easy to do, I would love to get started contributing to this project.

However, I'm not sure where to start, because I'm not sure of what this project is supposed to do. Some examples of how the end result should look like would be awesome.

Could you include some key examples of how the end result should look like in the README.md or the wiki?
Also, how do I get started contributing? You could for example open a few basic issues for me to tackle.
