kendo-ux's Issues

RFC: Chat UI - message time position

Currently in chat UI implementation, the message time is shown next to a selected message and the message status beneath it:
untitled-1

On the one hand is it better experience the short message time to be displayed next to it. On the other hand if the time format is too long, it would be cut out of the chat area.

We could use the same approach as in mobile facebook messenger:
2

The timeline of the conversation is center aligned. We have already had timestamp placed at the center of the chat canvas so we could follow the same trend for the single message time - at the center of the chat above the message.

[Editor] Icon for Editor Blockquote tool

Currently the Editor Quotation option is a part of the list under Format options:

image

After a discussion with @nstoychev we would like to extract a separate dedicated Blockquote tool. We believe this will be a more correct UI for this purpose, as this option does not fit well in the FormatBlock dropdown where it currently sits.

Provide guidence for filter toolbar dropdown / input sizes

In regards to a recent PR in kendo themes, it's not clear how the size of dropdowns / inputs is calculated:

  • dropdowns / inputs are with unequal width
  • dropdowns / inputs are with inconsistent width;
  • considering that most fields are data bound, that doesn't appear to be taken into consideration
  • localization doesn't seem to be taken into consideration regarding built in dropdowns like "And", "Or" and terms like "Contains", "Does not contain" etc.

KendoReact new overview app.

Please check the current state of the app located here:

telerik/kendo-react-homepage-demo#1

This is how it looks now:
image

It is Grid focused.
It has a Grid with paging, filtering and sorting.

The Grid has a detail template containing an Chart and issues description.

The first item is expanded by default.

There are two tabs one for our issue and one for the React issues:

Please take a look at the current state of the app and advise if any improvments can be made.

Upload: files focused state

With the upcoming Keyboard navigation implementation, we need a focused state design for files in the Upload widget.

[UX] Update grid padding when td of grid is containing a widget component in Material theme

Currently the design for gird in Material Theme is with 16px padding for both left and right sides (when there is widget component as datepicker or combobox in grid's td of an k-editable-row).

Check the image for reference:
image

This is consuming too much space, which is critical for the grid usage, because of the big amount of data it's displaying. We discussed with @lkarakoleva that in this case, we can reduce spacing to: padding-right: 4px of the tds and update the design psd file of the grid.

Scheduler week view multi-day events

Currently the multi-day events are rendered in the all day slots. Seems to be a common requirement to render them in the times content which arises two questions:

  1. How to indicate that the rendered element continues in the next/previous slot.
  2. How to layout the events so that it is obvious that they are the same.

Based on the current design and layout the result looks a bit strange:
multiday

Will appreciate any suggestions on how to improve it.

Navigation buttons for cards

Currently, the card deck (#4) is only scrollable by touch. For desktop browsers, users are limited to Shift+Mousewheel or a scrollbar in Firefox.

An experimental support for scrolling with mouse drag is implemented in the jQuery version, but is not ideal. Try dragging over a button in a card - the click still fires upon release.

The popular opinion at the moment is that we should introduce scroll buttons, similar to e.g. the ScrollView. These provide a simple alternative for scrolling and somewhat better UX.
