Introduction

When I have a lot of child classes, I have a lot of identical fields (name in all child classes for example).
In order to improve that, we can use polymorphic relations to store all same fields in the parent storage.

Example:

Models

Characters: id, name
Wizard: id, name, magic
Warrior: id, name, rage

Tables

characters_storage: id, name, child_table, child_id
wizards: id, magic
warriors: id, rage

View

characters_storage join wizards
union all
characters_storage join warriors

Problem

When saving a child model we need to know which attributes is a parent attributes or a child attributes.

Advantage

• Avoid duplicate fields
• Allows unique index on parent storage table

If my parent class is abstract, I can't do ParentClass::all() because Eloquent try to instanciate a new object in order to create a new query:
