thorium-hardware's Issues

Bluetooth Tracking

By setting up a mesh of bluetooth receivers (Raspberry Pi Zero W is a cheap option) and providing bluetooth transmitters (in uniforms or attached to objects), the location of items and people on the bridge could be tracked using triangulation.

This has a lot of uses:

  • Link into a marauders map feature to show the location of the bridge crew
    • Also, be sure to include the ability to add arbitrary points to the bridge for Shadows-like missions.
  • Use objects to control hardware panels based on bluetooth proximity
  • Bomb tracking
  • A scanner box that identifies items that are placed inside it.
  • See the location of intruders on the bridge when planning a bridge take-back.

Phasers

Phasers should be 3D printed and have basic battery powered circuitry to respond to an action (trigger pull) to give the user a satisfying response such as sounds and lights. No projectiles. The phasers may look similar to a typical hand gun or rifle (following state and federal laws) but it is more advisable to make it look more "futuristic" such as the Start Trek TNG hand phasers.

Other potential ideas include:

  • Laser tag type system
  • Rumbling responses
  • "Heat" or "Ammo" limitations

Interface Standards

Write up Interface standards for how panels should interact with Thorium.

The panels should:

  • Run standalone, and responding to the user without network responses
  • Run some sort of website so that other programs can connect to the panels and read data
  • Make UDP discovery of the graphQL server
  • Send and receive graphQL API calls to update the server on it's state, and so the server can update the panel on it's settings.
  • Have a unique identifier

Comm Badges

Find an easy and convenient way to create comm badges for the crew and staff to use.

Lighting

Make a standard for DMX/LED Lighting for easy setup and use for all simulators and centers.

Also, design out new LED red rotating lights for use in away missions and landing parties.
