reset-ipv6's Introduction

Reset-IPv6 Build Status

Troubleshooting Pack to fully reset the Windows IPv6 Stack.

Screenshot

Sometimes due to incompatible with IPv6 software, like Checkpoint Secure Client, the Windows IPv6 stack is broken. The virtual IPv6 interfaces (ISATAP, 6to4, Teredo and IP-HTTPS) stop working. These interfaces are needed by technologies like Direct Access to work.

Use this troubleshooting pack when you have errors like Failed to open tunnel adapter or Interface creation failure.

Failed to open tunnel adapter

If, even after uninstalling incompatible software, the IPv6 transition technologies interfaces are unusable, run this troubleshooting pack.

Reset IPv6:

  • Uses the Windows Troubleshooting platform.
  • Uninstalls and install again all Teredo, 6to4, IP-HTTPS and ISATAP devices.
  • Resets the IPv6 stack to default settings.
  • Triggers a full group policy update.
  • Works in x86 and amd64 of all editions of:
  • Windows 7
  • Windows Server 2008 R2
  • Windows 8
  • Windows 8.1
  • Windows Server 2012
  • Windows Server 2012 R2
  • It's currently only in English but is capable to fix issues in all operating system languages.
  • Requires administrative privileges.

reset-ipv6's Issues

Seems like it gets stuck on GPUpdate /force

Hey there,

I was wondering if you could do a release without the GPUpdate /force part of it.

I tried extracting your cab, editing RS_resetIPv6.ps1 and commenting out lines 77 and 78. When i try and run resetipv6.diagpkg after that it errors out. I tried removing those lines, removing the /force attribute, etc and it all just fails.

The computer never restarts and it is hung for hours with the above message.

let me know if you have a fix or workaround, thanks. I think this is exactly what I need to solve a problem where the interface is disappearing.

I think maybe it has to do with the fact that when you run gpupdate /force it prompts you for a question (Y,N) which is why the script might be failing. Let me know.
