rss2twitter's Issues

Long URLs not tweet-able

Hi,

I noticed an issue when both title and URL are quite long.

Let's assume title is 200 chars and URL is 100 chars. This would normally work, since the Twitter API is reducing the URL to 23 chars, and the resulting 200 + 3 (" - ") + 23 chars is way less then the maximum of 280.

The app however removes the URL, since it traces back from the end (300>275) to find the first space, which is just after the dash and removes everything from there, leaving just the title and the dash.

Any idea how to fix this?

Thanks!

How to get twitter developers account

Hello @umputun , sorry for off-topic, but maybe it would be beneficial for others to get this answer.

From 24 July 2018 Twitter introduced new policy with manual approval and creation of developers accounts. By this policy rss2twitter and such kind of apps that should send twits are marked as spammers. So could you tell what reasons can we provide.

Thank you in advance,
Alex

arm processors support

Hey umputun, thank you for making rss2twitter. It works nicely.

It seems like those small kind of applications are perfectly match to raspberry pi and others. So would be nice to add docker image for those architectures.

What do you think?

[FR] - Filtering .Text

The RSS feed we're using rss2twitter on recently started using the @ sign in the feed (sometimes in the title, sometimes in the text).

This resulted in our Twitter app getting suspended for "spamming" because it was @ messaging various Twitter handles, depending on whether a real account ended up inadvertently getting tagged.

I figured I would ask you first how you think it might be best to handle this. I was thinking about optional search/replace pairs in the config or such.

Thoughts?

Thank you!

Not an issue... just wanted to say "thank you!" for creating this. It's allowed me to set up an RSS -> Twitter service for a colleague.
