unlicense.org's Issues

Jibber: not actually unlicensed code?

On the Unlicense.org website, I found the following listing under Unlicensed Free Software:

Jibber, a small blogging engine built with Sinatra.

However, the README file shown at the linked Github repository says:

Jibber License (MIT License)

Copyright (c) 2008 Bob Martens

Permission is hereby granted, free of charge, to any person obtaining a copy of this software and associated documentation files (the "Software"), to deal in the Software without restriction, including without limitation the rights to use, copy, modify, merge, publish, distribute, sublicense, and/or sell copies of the Software, and to permit persons to whom the Software is furnished to do so, subject to the following conditions:

The above copyright notice and this permission notice shall be included in all copies or substantial portions of the Software.

THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND NONINFRINGEMENT. IN NO EVENT SHALL THE AUTHORS OR COPYRIGHT HOLDERS BE LIABLE FOR ANY CLAIM, DAMAGES OR OTHER LIABILITY, WHETHER IN AN ACTION OF CONTRACT, TORT OR OTHERWISE, ARISING FROM, OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH THE SOFTWARE OR THE USE OR OTHER DEALINGS IN THE SOFTWARE.

It seems that either Jibber is no longer unlicensed code, or the unlicensed Jibber source has been moved to a new location.

adding info about countries that don't allow PD

Hi,

There is no section about coutries that don't allow PD.
For example in Poland it is illegal to waive your copyright.

Please add info about what to do in such circumstances (ie. dual licensing maybe? )

Unlicensed project: tag

My (tag)[https://gitlab.com/Nycroth/tag] project is unlicensed. Feel free to list it if you're interested.

Beyond software?

Why not to extend Unlicense to other copyright-protected works?

Mike Gogulski's projects

Hi Arto,

All of my github projects plus the WordPress plugins citation-manager and disable-registration-email are Unlicensed. Yay, freedom!

Peace,
Mike

UN project

Hello,
I would like to add this project to your list : https://bitbucket.org/Eclesia/un/wiki/Home
It's a general library where I try to regroup all other smaller single purpose libraries, fill the gaps and write what remains.
Objective is to build a knowledge base and something similar to a jre or .net virtual machine in full public domain.
With all the projects in public domain out there we have most of what is needed, build something 100% public is not a dream :)

thanks
Johann Sorel

gregory80's projects

thank you for creating the unlicense. After years or examining the correct 'copyright' to apply to my code, this describes my intent, well, perfectly.

I will be releasing most (if not all my code) under unlicense in the future, several micro projects are already listed in my repos http://github.com/gregory80

ZF-Boilerplate: Please add to list of license-free software libraries on http://unlicense.org/

Hey guys -

can you please add Zend Framework (ZF) Boilerplate to the list of license-free software libraries: https://github.com/michael-romer/zf-boilerplate

Zend Framework (ZF) Boilerplate is a pre-packaged, pre-configured Zend Framework - based blueprint for your enterprise grade PHP application. It combines state-of-the-art tools, frameworks and ideas to bootstrap your projects with nearly zero work.

Thanks much,
Michael

POI: unlicense, public domain, and common knowledge

The usual disclaimer of IANAL.

In nature, there are no property rights. Public Domain strives to assert that reality. Certain jurisdictions do not recognize public domain.

There are certain suggestions that unlicense and other assertions of removing any legal encumbrance of creative and other content is somehow invalid.

I would submit that in the spirit of releasing some creative or other content and knowledge to "public domain" is simply a assertion and push of said content and knowledge to be COMMON KNOWLEDGE which, in most jurisdictions that I'm aware of, is thereby incapable of becoming legally encumbered under property or any other intellectual rights.

Comments?

New unlicensed project: gopt

I've had this little lib sitting around for a while, but decided to pay it some attention recently. I've also unlicensed it!

Here's the linky-link: apfeltee/gopt

More to come, as I'm planning on unlicensing a few other things.

New unlicense project.

I wrote an MVC framework for Node.JS called Frameworkey: Promise Edition that uses the Unlicense. If wouldn't mind too much, I would greatly appreciate if you were to link to my project : D
