when we initially set this up install ASP from conda was not an option. Apparently you can now just install via conda by adding additional channels (https://github.com/NeoGeographyToolkit/StereoPipeline/blob/master/INSTALLGUIDE.rst#fetching-pre-compiled-asp-with-conda), this would likely decrease the size of the build since we currently have a full conda environment + the bundled binary.

trying to run the image on jupyterhub currently fails if using an nfs mount for /home/jovyan. This is because the docker image uses that directory to store repo contents including the /binder/start script:

/usr/local/bin/repo2docker-entrypoint: line 6: /home/jovyan/binder/start: No such file or directory

I think the solution is to use --target-repo-dir when running repo2docker in the ci scripts (if not set it defaults to $HOME, which is /home/jovyan:
