@vbatts, could you explain why you called a go routine when calling ts.readHeaders() in tar.go?

@Stephen679 so we can return a Reader to the caller. It is tricky business, doing a pipe processing like this.

have a solution to this and will push once I get the code cleaned up. The race condition lied in the call to flatten at the end of the archive streaming, which wasn't being finished even as main was writing to stdout.

Instead of flattening before returning from ts.readHeaders(), just flatten after ts has been returned to main

from go-mtree.
