Issue to track progress

The application-tier server needs to spit out JSON objects (through URLs) and receive JSON objects which change the state of the database. These should be easy to implement now that the sqlalchemy models are properly set up and ready to use in the server code itself.

Adding this issue to track some progress.

The current README is insufficient and outdated as an installation guide. Setup of entire server takes multiple somewhat-complex steps that I need to fully document. Putting all of that stuff in a single README would be potentially hard to parse, especially with the more complicated setup.

Once the Application Tier is mostly implemented, I intend to setup Github Wiki pages to describe the installation process in detail, from installing dependencies and setting up a virtual environment to setting up the database and running the servers.

Issue to track progress

Authentication will allow only logged in users (registered users, admins, etc) specific privileges (or rather, prevent users without certain permissions to do things). The users table may have to be modified with a couple of boolean flags to effectively support this.

Additionally, sessions, session cookies, and passwords need to be connected to keep track of logged in users.
