JSON expected but not received during `netlify addons:create vgs`

Neat product!

I'm having trouble figuring out how I should answer the "path" question that occurs when running netlify addons:create vgs. I've embedded the form of interest in a file public/vgs.html, but I'm getting the following error. I've also tried leaving the path blank and hitting enter. This is on Windows Subsystem for Linux, Windows version 10.0.18362. Any idea what's going on? Thanks!

Unable to authenticate vgs addon

I get the following error after running netlify addons:auth vgs:

auth error, please try again by running "netlify vgs-auth" The request is missing a required parameter, includes an invalid parameter value, includes a parameter more than once, or is otherwise malformed.

This seems to be the case regardless of the form path .
