After update to dev branch of Ubuntu 19.10 I noticed that some windows and menus have font color that mixes with background color on Layan-dark-solid theme. Not sure if that's Ubuntu issue and will be fixed by stable release (sometime at October 17th) but here's a notice. Screenshots included.
As GNOME 40 continues to roll out in pretty much every distro, this theme should start to migrate or at least provide a GNOME 40 version. This is one of my favorite themes, but it doesn't quite work on GNOME 40 yet.
I have slowly been making small tweaks to fix it, and will make a PR once I've got it fully working. I'm still having issues with the margins/padding on the dash, the drop shadows on active buttons in the top bar, and would like to make an option to remove the margin between workspaces.
Thanks again for this amazing theme!
Hi, not exactly an issue, more of a question exactly
I was playing around with the theme , source files and final gtk.css,
I couldn't figure out the part of css which control the nautilus/thunar navigation button part ( back, home buttons etc.)
I dig around a lot, but couldn't find anything related to them..
can you please point out them for me...
sorry for inconvience if any
Would great if this theme was be compatible with unite extension.
This extension takes windows buttons to the top of the panel.
I just thought whether you would be able to achieve such amazing transformation with Thunderbird as well?
PS: Or a theme for Joplin
Hi Vince, it looks like the links for the previews in the readme are broken. Leads to an "Error fetching resource".
In ubuntu mate the window border part of the layan theme does not show up in the window border list.
It would be great if you could document the recommended upgrade path.
Thank you so much for your impressive themes! π
When using the theme currently, it's not applied to applications installed flatpak. To remedy this, the theme can be submitted to the Flathub repo.
As an example, the Qogir theme is available here
https://github.com/flathub/org.gtk.Gtk3theme.Qogir
I am an xfce user and like this theme very much. It works seamlessly for the UI of xfce 4.14. But it has no xfwm4 support. I can only choose another xfwm4 theme and it seems incompatible. It would be great if xfwm4 can be supported.
In Layan-light and in Layan gtk-3 theme when we hover over something with a title a blank white box appears instead of a proper tooltip. I think the issue is that Tooltip background color and text color are the same. Please fix it.
Hello, I am on the latest GIT code.
The theme becomes completely non-styled if "prefer-dark" is activated.
I am using Layan-Dark-Solid. But it seems to happen with all Layan themes.
# Break theme completely.
gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.interface color-scheme prefer-dark
# Fix theme.
gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.interface color-scheme default
PS: I have copied the Layan-Dark-Solid/gtk-4.0
folder's contents to ~/.config/gtk-4.0/
and it does a decent job styling GTK-4/LibAdwaita applications. Great job! (This folder has nothing to do with the bug, I just wanted to thank you for having a semi-working GTK-4 already. :))
Just requesting a follow-up on issue #33 as it's been over a year and still no gtk4 support. Finally just updated from Gnome 3.38 but had to find a new theme and I don't like it nearly as much as Layan
Part of the situation has become purple after I change the theme. However, the top bar ,the full-screen color transition when a windows touch the top bar and the points of sided-bar denoting a program is running are still orange.
i changed the colors of everything in the .sass files and the gtk3 theme works fine, but the gtk2 still remains as if i was using default colors, is there anyway i should change more bg/fg variables to make it work on gtk2 too? (i use it to sync theme with qt applications =/ )
Greetings,
I installed this from AUR and loved it, minus that I get what I felt was an odd issue. I get dialog boxes that I would expect for a dark theme even though I'm setting the light theme via lxappearance.
$ pacman -Q | grep layan
layan-gtk-theme-git 2021063010g6913efd-1

Here's a popup when exiting out of libreoffice calc without saving.
Is this expected?
In journalctl
, GNOME keeps complaining about a missing background.png
when used as a shell theme:
May 23 12:12:03 powerbox gnome-shell[1191]: Failed to load file:///usr/share/themes/Layan-Dark/gnome-shell/assets/background.png: Error opening file /usr/share/themes/Layan-Dark/gnome-shell/assets/background.png: No such file or directory
I really like the layan theme, but using the layan-solid theme variant makes it impossible to see any of the icons in nautilus
Hello,
I upgraded Ubuntu to 21.10 today, and I updated your Theme to the latest version.
Everything works fine, except the Ubuntu Dock : Icons are too many spaced :
Edges have a large radius too, it's not very pretty when I am in the "tree dots at the top-left" (Activities menu).
Can you explain to me where I could make changes on the Theme files, or update it please ?
Thank you very much for all your work, it's wonderful !
First of all thanks so much for this amazin Theme.
Everything works perfectly with the native theme, installed on Fedora through the github repository.
I've installed the snap to have a consistent UX with all the applications, but with the snapped GUIs the checkboxes are invisible:
Overing the mouse I can see grey circle of the checkbox is disabled
Or colored if enabled
May be something missing in the snap application that uses the layan-themes snap? Or is it something in the layan-themes snap?
If I start my snap in debug I see this message:
Gtk-Message: 23:37:40.023: Failed to load module "colorreload-gtk-module"
This module is from KDE as my Desktop is Plasma.
Do you think could be the cause?
Thanks in advance!!!
it looks good
Hello there..
As a big fan of the Layan theme, and it being the default in my KDE based distro, any word as to when it will get the update to GNOME 43/GTK4 ?
Thanks a tone and keep up the amazing work.. ;)
Please create the theme for GDM! :) (gnome-shell-theme.gresource)
The theme is really great, great job! However, I'm not a huge fan of purple accent colors, I'm more usually a fan of blue/green accent colors, it would be great if we could have a few other variants with other accent colors other than purple :)
As shown in the screenshot above, the text that shows the current month in the gnome-shell calendar is cut off when using this theme.
This is using Layan-dark-solid from latest git master at the time of writing (commit 267e729), installed via ./install.sh
. Operating system is Fedora 32 (GNOME 3.36.1), and my "Interface Text" (as GNOME Tweaks) calls it is Cantarell Regular, size 10 with fount size/scaling factor set to 1,50. The text is not cut off when using Qogir or Adwaita with otherwise identical settings.
That aside, beautiful theme! Great work.
i have installed layan-gtk-theme with ./install.sh script. can you please help me how to remove it? any help is appreciated. thanks.
Are you going to add GTK4 support?
I used to have old commit of phocus gtk theme which was black and white but the creator shifted his ideas and current commits are not black and white anymore and the old commit is 3 years old and can't be built anymore because it throws a lot of errors. This leaves me struggling because I don't have skills to make my own gtk theme but I'm desparate of black and white gtk theme for my rice. Your theme looks really nice so I thought you could make new version where you use black and white colors and I mean like #000
and #fff
Hi, I just recently installed Nemo file manager and I notice when I launch it from terminal, it says this error
Current gtk theme is not known to have nemo support (Layan-dark-solid) - checking...
And it seems to open just fine, but it doesn't look as nice as the Nautilus version of the theme; could you add support for the Nemo file manager? Thanks!
Whenever hovering over something in the top panel it is in the shape of a rectangle and not round (like in adwaita). What may also work well for this theme could be an approach similar to that of materia(no highlighting by shape, but by changing the colour tone and having a glowy effect behind it), but without the underlining of whatever is selected(something that this theme currently does). The underlining doesn't really work well with the rather minimalistic MacOS look the theme is aiming for. That said I think the worst issue with the shell is the notifications in the notification centre. Their notification box itself is squarish, but once you hover over it the outline is the usual adwaita-like round outline and it isn't even consistent with the notification pop up messages when using this theme(which are round like adwaita).
TLD
it would be great if the top panel tray icons highlighting would be round or just a subtle highlight(like that of materia), the underlining should be removed and if the notifications in the notification centre could be made consistent with pop up notifications, (the ladder issue seems to me to be a result of depreciation)
