I was fully able to compile and run Vircon32 libretro core (and its games) in these arm64 cheap tv boxes (actually in a Amlogic x905x3 device).

I will sanitize the code and make soon a PR in this repository and in EmuELEC in order to make the new builds to have Vircon32 core.

If someone just want to try the built shared object itself you can download through this link.

To run the core, just unzip the file and place it into cores folder, and paste the BIOS file into bios folder.

I was fully able to compile the libretro core, I added it into my retroarch cores.

But when I start the core there is a black screen, it does not boot into bios.

I have also tried to run a game (2048.v32) with the core, but I also get again a black screen.

My system specs:

The libretro docs for Vircon32 state:

The Vircon32 core already contains the Vircon32 Standard BIOS. But you can optionally use a different BIOS file by placing it in the frontend's system directory, with name Vircon32Bios.v32.

But retroarch crashes when I run the core. Checking Manage Cores, the info for Vircon32 says

(!) Missing, Required: StandardBios.v32 (Vircon32 BIOS 1.1)
