qmlb-7-5's Issues

Problem reading state property

Hi @voidrealms,

I purchased your "QML for Beginners with Qt 5" tutorial on Udemy. The problem occurs when I try to read the state property in the main.qmlfile as follows.

onClicked: {
    console.log(`Before: ${parent.state}`);

    if(parent.state === "on")
    {
        parent.state = "off";
    }
    else if(parent.state === "off") /* There is a problem with this line. */
    {
        parent.state = "on";
    }

    console.log(`After: ${parent.state}`);
}

The program output is as follows:

qml: Before:
qml: After:
qml: Before:
qml: After:

When I prefer the above usage, I can neither write nor read the parent.state property. In this case the UI doesn't work as expected. Can you explain the reason for this situation?

When I change the above code block to if-else as in the main.qml file, the program works as expected:

onClicked: {
    console.log(`Before: ${parent.state}`);

    if(parent.state === "on")
    {
        parent.state = "off";
    }
    else /* I just updated this line. */
    {
        parent.state = "on";
    }

    console.log(`After: ${parent.state}`);
}

The program output is as follows:

qml: Before: on
qml: After: off
qml: Before: off
qml: After: on

I greatly benefit from your training, thank you very much.
