Font 'Lato' doesn't contain multiple foreign characters

Berlin templates default font 'Lato' needs to be reviewed and upgraded. Currently there are multiple characters missing and thereby replaced with a different font. For example, these letters in Latvian:

differences

Background information:

Montserrat (headings) font doesn’t have Latvian glyphs in Google Font, it does however in Font Squirrel http://www.fontsquirrel.com/fonts/montserrat.

Lato does have Latin Extended in Google Fonts: https://www.google.com/fonts#UsePlace:use/Collection:Lato, also available in FS http://www.fontsquirrel.com/fonts/lato.

Page header not displayed for public view unless overwritten

When a new page is created, its title is displayed in the h1 section at the top of the page in the edit-mode. However, when you proceed to preview, its suddenly not displayed.

Edit-mode:

Preview:

The title only appears to the public eye once overwritten manually. This should be fixed by either stating clear instructions in the placeholder ("Insert site title here") or by leaving it empty in the first place.

Main font has no cyrillic support and chooses a visually dissimilar fallback on Windows

Current fonts on the Berlin design are Lato and sans-serif but there is no cyrillic support for Lato. When viewed on a Windows with Google Chrome, the site displays sans-serif which is visually quite different from Lato. On Mac there is an automatic fall-back for Helvetica and the site looks visually nicer.

Perhaps there should be Lato, Helvetica, Arial & sans-serif as the default template fonts for a better user experience.
