supreme_court_transcripts's Issues

Other court transcripts

This is awesome. Any plans for other court transcript bulk data, or might anyone know of a similar project doing that?

Linking to bulk download of Supreme Court Opinions

Free Law Project's Court Listener website provides bulk download of all Supreme Court Opinions.

The bulk downloads are documented here.

This is the link to bulk download Supreme Court Opinions: https://www.courtlistener.com/api/bulk-data/opinions/scotus.tar.gz (its a large file, >600MB)

I imagine someone interested in the structured data in this repo might also be interested in structured + plain-text version of the Court opinions. So do we think its worth linking to that?

Access to Oyez API

Thanks for this very cool work! I had two questions I was hoping you could help me with:

  1. How did you generate the case_summaries.json file? Is there a single API call?
  2. Speaking of APIs, how did you get access to the Oyez API? I haven't had any luck finding documentation on this via web search.

Thanks in advance for your time.

Linking to auto-updated releases

Thanks a lot for creating this and documenting the API.

I was able to fork this repo and use GitHub Actions to set up auto-updating of the cases and also of publishing weekly releases for quick downloads.

Would you be interested in linking to those updated releases? The link for that is https://github.com/azeemba/supreme_court_transcripts_auto_updated/releases

If you are interested, I would be happy to send a PR as well. The only caveat is that I have about 10 additional commits that renamed some existing files so they were consistent with the naming scheme the updating script follows (it was mostly making sure docket number in the file name matched what Oyez said it was).
