weakauras-companion's Introduction

WeakAuras Companion

Build Status Build Status Build Status Patreon

The WeakAuras Companion is a cross-platform (Windows/macOS/Linux) application built to provide the missing link between Wago and the WeakAuras World of Warcraft addon.

It enables you to fetch updates to the auras you have installed directly from Wago, without having to manually copy-paste import strings all the time. It also makes sure you don't miss any updates, always keeping you up to date with the latest versions.

How to Use

Install

Manual

Download and install the WeakAuras Companion from our website or GitHub.

Homebrew

Install using Homebrew by running the following command in your Terminal:

brew install --no-quarantine weakauras-companion

With WeakAuras

  • Start the Companion, it will ask you to give it at least your World of Warcraft folder and account name.
  • Follow the instructions inside the app
  • Click on 'Fetch Updates', this is also done automatically once every hour.
  • Restart World of Warcraft or reload your UI. The first time you start WeakAuras Companion, you will have to restart the game for it to be able to load the addon.
  • Now open the WeakAuras panel in-game and look for the new 'update-available' icon next to the names in the list.
  • After clicking on it, you get the usual choice of being able to upgrade or import as copy. That's it!

With Plater

  • Follow the steps above in 'How to Use' for WeakAuras to install and configure the WeakAuras Companion up to the point after restarting World of Warcraft / reloading your UI.
  • Each 'Fetch' for new updates will recognize installed Plater Profiles, Mods and Scripts. Please note, that you need to have them copied and installed from wago.io prior to being able to receive updates this way.
  • Now open the Plater options panel in-game and look for the wago icons on the Scripting, Modding or Profiles tab. Those icons indicate available updates in this category, as can be seen on (1.) on the screenshots below.

Updating Profiles

To update your profile, go to the Profiles tab and check the wago.io Profile Information (2.), then click on 'Update Profile' (3.) - You will be prompted to update.

preview5

Updating Mods and Scripts

The update procedure for Mods and Scripts is identical: First check for available updates indicated by the small wago icon on the respective tab (1.), then find the update indicator on the Mod/Script (2.). The tooltip will give you additional information about the update (3.).

preview6

To update a Mod or Script, either click on the wago icon (2.) or use the right-click menu on the Mod or Script and select 'Update from Wago.io' (3.).

preview7

You will be prompted to either overwrite the existing version (Yes) or to create a copy (No). Cancelling the operation is possible by closing the prompt window by clicking on the 'X' on the top right.

preview8

Backups

The Companion is able to regularly create backups of your WeakAuras so you don't lose them in case of a crash or other accident. This option needs to be enabled manually in the options.

preview9

Known Issues

  • If you previously downloaded an aura from Wago that is not a whole group and put it into one of your own custom groups, the Companion will not show any updates for it.

weakauras-companion's Issues

no upgrade option in game

the companion out side of game is list two addons due for upgrade (there are more but thats another bug)
in game there is no marks, tried reload, restarting

Reinstall / Reset option for installed auras

Purpose is to reset manually changed Auras or apply position changes after you initially did not want to use the new position from an update.
The current way is to remove the aura and import it again manually from Wago.

A clear and concise description of what the bug is.
Some of my auras like https://wago.io/Reaping https://wago.io/TalentSetup after i update them are not displayed in companion as it have new version. Also, if i update them from wago without companion they are not importing as update, instead they just importing as i never had this aura

Possible to happen why:
1)i duplicate one of auras, fix/exit it and then update it to the wago
2)it has a different name (spacebars at the end of it)
2)using TSU (less possible)

Wago Texture Import

A really nice feature to go along with the Companion's ability to update auras from wago would be to have it also be able to import textures. This feature would be extremely helpful to users since they wouldn't have to worry about importing textures themselves. Obviously if the Companion takes over the need for downloading textures then it would probably have to come with it's own file system/style which I don't think is a bad thing since authors could just reference the expected file system.

There's probably some naming issue here, and the only idea that I've come up with is organising textures by user. Organising by wago users limits the opportunity for overlapping names.

Update WeakAuras Addon Automagically

Getting users to update their WeakAuras addon is a pain, sometimes. Could we offload some of that pressure onto the companion app, for at least the portion of our userbase which uses the app? The app could have settings for preferred release type, similar to the twitch app.

I'm not sure what else to say here, as this is not a project I've worked on much.

I think i set it up all as i should ,but in game i dont get update button in wa addon. Doing it manually -geting update directly from site works fine and companion recognizes after i have updated wa aura.

An in-range update of webpack is breaking the build 🚨

The devDependency webpack was updated from 4.27.0 to 4.27.1.

After Fetching Updates via Companion and then updating in-game via WA Addon, the Companion is still telling me "9 updates ready for in-game installation.". I'm not an expert on any of this but I am assuming once your WA's are updated the list is supposed to clear? In which case, mine isn't and is reminding me that I have updates to install.

Version 1.1.9 don't start on a fresh Pop!_Os 19.04 (Ubuntu 19.04) Installation

Hi

On a fresh OS installation, I installed weakauras-companion snap with the following command:

sudo snap install --dangerous ./weakauras-companion_1.1.9_amd64.snap

But if I try to run it, it doesn't start and this is the error I get:

$ snap run weakauras-companion
[8461:0517/194801.338604:FATAL:setuid_sandbox_host.cc(157)] The SUID sandbox helper binary was found, but is not configured correctly. Rather than run without sandboxing I'm aborting now. You need to make sure that /snap/weakauras-companion/x1/chrome-sandbox is owned by root and has mode 4755.

I have no issues with other snaps (eg. Discord is running fine)

When i click the Fetch Updates button i get an error

Action required: Greenkeeper could not be activated 🚨

🚨 You need to enable Continuous Integration on Greenkeeper branches of this repository. 🚨

To enable Greenkeeper, you need to make sure that a commit status is reported on all branches. This is required by Greenkeeper because it uses your CI build statuses to figure out when to notify you about breaking changes.

Since we didn’t receive a CI status on the greenkeeper/initial branch, it’s possible that you don’t have CI set up yet. We recommend using Travis CI, but Greenkeeper will work with every other CI service as well.

If you have already set up a CI for this repository, you might need to check how it’s configured. Make sure it is set to run on all new branches. If you don’t want it to run on absolutely every branch, you can whitelist branches starting with greenkeeper/.

Once you have installed and configured CI on this repository correctly, you’ll need to re-trigger Greenkeeper’s initial pull request. To do this, please click the 'fix repo' button on account.greenkeeper.io.

This version is covered by your current version range and after updating it in your project the build failed.

electron-updater is a direct dependency of this project, and it is very likely causing it to break. If other packages depend on yours, this update is probably also breaking those in turn.

Describe the bug
Companion App not showing all Weakauras, and thus not able to fetch all the new available updates.

Show auras without updates is ticked on.

I would like to say that I acknowledge that this app is new, and i bound to have a few bugs. I do hope the information i have provided can help.

To Reproduce
As showed in the linked screenshot of the Weakaura addon in-game, it is displaying Causese's "T23 Battle of Dazar'alor" Aura. while in the Companion app it is missing.

Steps to reproduce the behavior:
Tried removing and adding the missing Weakauras. Mainly Causese's "T23 Battle of Dazar'alor" Aura. Still the same conclusion, the auras are missing in the companion app.

Expected behavior
Expected all the in-game Weakauras to be loaded in the Companion app and updates being displayed when available.

Push auras from Wago to Companion

From @oratory on 20 december

just pushed some changes for the app, enables a listening server
if running that and open a dev console on wago.io, type enableCompanion=true and the "Send to WA Companion App" button will show up

We got to think about the workflow after pushing that button on Wago.

Wago

Push "Send to WeakAuras Companion App"

Companion

I'm thinking about making the app go into a "stash mode" that let you push more auras
Every time you push another aura it goes in the stash, which reflect what is stored for weakauras
Next time WoW (re)load it show stashed auras
When app detect World of Warcraft has finish showing a load screen, it gets out of stash mode and reset the data

WeakAuras

On load, check if there are auras in Companion's stash
Then how to let user interact with the data is yet to decide, some options are:

  • show a list of links in chat on load, maybe add a /wa command too ?
  • show a list in wa options under "External"

'Use Companion Beta Channel' check mark not updating

Operating System:

Companion Version:

1.1.5.

Describe the bug
A clear and concise description of what the bug is.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behaviour:

  1. Go to 'Settings'
  2. Click on 'Use Companion Beta Channel'
-> No check mark (or uncheck) visible
  3. Click on any other check box
-> 'Use Companion Beta Channel' check mark appears or disappears

Expected behaviour
Clicking on 'Use Companion Beta Channel' should immediately update the state of the check mark

Huge Menu Bar Extra on Mac OSX

On Mac OSX the app creates a huge Menu Bar Extra on the menu bar:

image

The Menu Bar Extra is far too large: I guess the icon is not appropriately scaled according to the menu size.

Furthermore, I found no way to disable it. According to the Apple Human Interface Guidelines Menu Bar Extras should be optional.

I tried both app versions 1.1.12 and 1.2.0-beta4 on macOS Mojave 10.14.5.
