Speed test adapter for the WebThings Gateway.

Usage

Normally you will just want to install this from the add-ons list provided by the gateway.

Requirements

If you're running this add-on outside of the official gateway image for the Raspberry Pi, i.e. you're running on a development machine, you'll need to do the following (adapt as necessary for non-Ubuntu/Debian):

sudo pip3 install git+https://github.com/WebThingsIO/gateway-addon-python.git

Troubleshooting

  • When no speedtest is executed and the gauge stays at 0, the CA certificates may need to be refreshed.
    • On the system running the gateway execute: # update-ca-certificates --fresh

Cannot get to function correctly on WebThings gateway

This is the log results on my system:

2020-08-18 17:27:14.647 INFO : Loading add-on: speed-test-adapter
2020-08-18 17:27:15.116 INFO : getValue for property download for: Internet speed test returning 0

I can load the webpage https://fast.com on my raspberry pi but this add-on does not work for me. I cannot see any reason why it would not work as there is very little to configure.

Add-on version: 0.3.2

Maximum bandwidth configurable

Hello,

Is it possible to make maximum bandwidth of the Internet connection configurable via the configure menu with a value in Megabps? Now it is a static value of 10000 which means that the levelproperty gauge is always empty.
