excel-to-text-converter's Issues

Feature Requests

First off, I really appreciate this app--it's simple, easy to use, & fast. There are a couple of things that I thought would make it even better (Note: I'm using your app on a Mac and I'm not sure if these features show up when using it on a Windows OS):

  1. Add a Quit button - There's no way to quit the app from the dropdown and, similarly, the shortcut CMD + Q isn't set up.
  2. Allow users to choose a destination folder for the generated csv files - I think it would be helpful if users could where they want the new files to go. To maintain the ease-of-use you could keep the current set-up as the default but maybe add a checkbox that users can click on if they want to specifically choose a different destination folder.
  3. Possibly add other output choices?? - I'm not sure if this was something you were going to do or not but it might be helpful to let users (maybe under an "advanced settings" menu bar item) change the output from csv to tab-delimited or semi-colon-delimited files. (I mention that because currently the app will convert a cell with the value $1,000 to the string "$1,000" and I think it'd be helpful sometimes if the delimiters were something completely different than what shows up in the cells themselves.
  4. Add some functionality to lightly parse values?? - Along the same lines as the previous suggestion, I think it'd be helpful if you could choose to, say, save cells with either an "Accounting" or "Currency" formatting style in the Excel workbook itself as merely a number with no formatting at all (so that, for example, $1,000.00 becomes 1000 in the resulting file). I'm not sure how feasible this suggestion is (or what the unforeseen negative consequences of this functionality might be), it's just something that I've noticed in the process of converting Excel files.

Again, thank you for this application--I sincerely hope these suggestions are helpful!

-Steve
