[Bug] Server crash when breaking a tripwire in Ancient Vault with Apprentice.

Is there an existing issue for this?

Observed behaviour

I had just removed the Arcane Wall in a Ancient Vault using a Vault key. My Apprentice was following just behind me. When I used a sword to break the tripwire inside, the server crashed.

Expected behaviour

I expected to access Ancient Vaults without crashing with a Apprentice.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Join a Server
  2. Gain a Apprentice
  3. With Apprentice following, remove a Arcane Wall in a Ancient Vault
  4. Use a sword to break the tripwire.

[Bug] Apprentice house in village has part of it cut off and appears higher than other buildings.

Is there an existing issue for this?

Observed behaviour

When finding a Apprentice house in a naturally occurring village, part of the house is often cut off and the building appears much higher than the surrounding buildings.

Expected behaviour

I expected the house to be complete and to be at the same level as the other buildings.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Explore until you find a village
  2. Locate the Apprentice house and observe its appearance

[Bug] Apprentice can't be regained/resurrected with Potion Core mod installed

Is there an existing issue for this?

Observed behavior

When Potion Core mod is installed, dead Apprentices die instantly when sleeping in a bed... but are still tracked as alive for the Arcane Apprentices mod and thus cannot be brought back to life by sleeping in the bed again.

The missing Apprentices are still being counted as Apprentices, and thus new Apprentices cannot be made to replace them.

Expected behavior

I expected there be a way to recover a Apprentice if they disappear/die when Potion Core mod is installed.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Join a Server that has Potion Core and Arcane Apprentices mods installed.
  2. Gain a Apprentice
  3. Let Apprentice die
  4. Try Sleeping on a bed, notice Apprentice appear briefly and instantly die once more.
  5. Try Sleeping on a bed again and notice no resurrected Apprentice.
  6. Try using a Totem of Undying on a Imbuement Altar and likewise no resurrected Apprentice.

[Feature Request] Arcane Apprentice expanded use of off-hand items

Observed behaviour

Currently, the Apprentice can use their off-hand for studying, identifying, or holding artifacts.

Expected behaviour

It would help to let Apprentices use their off-hand with Wand and Sword combinations. These could possibly be Talents. Examples:

  1. Fast Hands: 2 Wands (one in main hand and one in Inventory). When the main hand runs out of Mana, switch main hand to inventory and inventory Wand to main hand, thus allowing continued casting.
  2. Dueler: Sword (main hand) and Wand (off-hand). When enemy mob is adjacent, use sword to attack. When enemy is at a distance, use wand to cast a spell.
  3. Twin Wands: 2 Wands (one in main hand and one in off hand). The Apprentice can cast spells from either Wand, using the Wand Upgrades present with that Wand (for example, a Healer Wand with various healing/buff spells and Duration/Cooldown upgrades.. and a Fire Wand with various fire projectile/attacks and Blast/Range upgrades)

[Bug] Apprentice gains the Ticking Entity condition and crashes server when drinking Potions

Is there an existing issue for this?

Observed behaviour

Just after fighting a hostile Warlock at his tent with the assistance of a Arcane Apprentice, the server crashes with a Ticking Entity message. May have something to do with the Apprentice being hit by a necromantic spell (foe was launching what looked like wither skulls).

Expected behaviour

I expected the Apprentice to be able to fight hostile wizard classes without incident.

Hard to reproduce, as Im not sure what spell the hostile caster cast. Attaching the crash log.

[Bug] Arcane Apprentices easily get left behind (stop TPing to player) when flying over jungle.

Is there an existing issue for this?

Observed behaviour

Arcane Apprentices (who are set to follow the player) currently get left behind fairly often when the player is moving quickly through the jungle (such as by a lich's normal flight speed).

When this happens, the only way to find the Apprentice is to laboriously search through the jungle until the Apprentice is found. This likely happens in other similar conditions as well.

Best guess, as to what is happening, is that while the player is airborne.. the system waits to teleport the Apprentice until they reach a certain distance from the ground.. which causes the Apprentice to be left behind if moving out of the chunk and making the chunk inactive.

Expected behaviour

I expected that the Apprentice would teleport to the player (or just under them on the ground) as soon as the player reaches an area the Apprentice could stand on.

Alternatively, I expected there to be a easy way to recover the Apprentice if their location cannot be determined. Examples (in the order of preference) might be:

  • Sleeping on the bed returns the Apprentice to your side if set to follow.
  • A keybind, easily craftable item, or temporary item (similar to the one for the awakened Sage Tome) that can be used to summon the Apprentice to your side.
  • A compass, map, or similar feature that can help to locate the missing Apprentice.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Join a Server
  2. Gain Apprentice and set to follow
  3. Move rapidly through the Jungle (elytra, lich flight, leap/speed enchantments, flying mount)
  4. Notice the Apprentice getting left behind
  5. Search through the Jungle to locate the Apprentice

[Bug] Apprentice pathfinding gets stuck in corner

Observed behaviour

While Apprentice was heading to the nearest Lectern to Study, he got stuck in a corner between two bookcase rows. His pathfinding was not good enough to navigate around them.

Expected behaviour

I expected the Apprentice to be able to navigate around obstacles when coming to corners.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Join a Server
  2. Gain Apprentice
  3. Place a two high set of bookcase rows, so they create a corner
  4. Put the Apprentice in that corner
  5. Place a Lectern on the opposite side of the corner, so Apprentice will need to go around the bookcase rows
  6. Tell Apprentice to go Study

[Bug] Apprentice houses have no Apprentices in naturally occurring villagers

When coming across a naturally occurring village, the Apprentice houses are empty.

This happens in a existing world. In new worlds, the apprentices appear correctly. Perhaps there is a setting somewhere in the world that disables them appearing that I can update?

[Bug] Player should be able to gain a Apprentice with a Master level Battlemage/Sage/Warlock casting item

Observed behaviour

After upgrading a Spell Blade to Master level and casting a Master spell with it, tried to gain a Apprentice and discovered that a Battlemage Master Spell Blade does not count for the requirements.

I suspect the same is true of Warlock or Sage.

Expected behaviour

I expected that a Master level spellcasting item from Battlemage, Sage, Warlock would count towards being able to get a apprentice.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Join a Server
  2. Level up a Spell Blade to Master tier and cast a Master spell with it
  3. Try to gain a Apprentice

[Bug] Wand Condensing upgrade (perhaps any type of Upgrade) doesn't work while held by Apprentice

Observed behaviour

When a Apprentice holds a Wand, the Condensing upgrade to slowely restore mana doesn't work,

It may be that none of the Wand Upgrades work for the Apprentice.

Expected behaviour

I would expect Wand Upgrades to work for the Apprentice just like they do for the Player.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Join a Server
  2. Gain a Apprentice and teach him Magic Missile
  3. Add a Wand Upgrade (such as Condensing) to a Novice Wand with Magic Missile
  4. Give the Wand to the Apprentice and have him kill a few zombies
  5. Notice that the Wand Upgrade did not have any effect

[Bug] Apprentice disappears and doesn't come back when sleeping

Observed behaviour

At first the Apprentice died and showed message in text and could be regained by sleeping.

After several fights, the Apprentice disappears in the middle of a fight (was set to Follow Me), and does not return when sleeping.

All configs for Arcane Apprentices are set to default.

Expected behaviour

I expected the Arcane Apprentice to not disappear in the middle of a fight (no message in text).

If the Apprentice does disappear, I expected it to re-appear on sleeping.

As a last resort, it would be wonderful to have a keybind or something to regain Apprentices that are not respawning.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Join a Server
  2. Gain a Apprentice
  3. Get the Apprentice involved in numerous fights (leveling them to around level 10).
  4. Apprentice suddenly disappears (see photo)
  5. Try to regain Apprentice by sleeping in bed (no luck)
  6. Look for some way to regain Apprentice (none apparent)

[Bug] Apprentice stops following player after running out of mana in Wand when attacking foes

Observed behaviour

Apprentice set to follow player, stops following player after running out of mana in Wand when attacking enemies.

Expected behaviour

I expected the Apprentice to continue following the player, until a different command is given to the Apprentice, even when out of Mana.

This way it's easier to track them and make sure they can be given additional mana.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Gain a Apprentice, train with Magic Missile
  2. Create a Novice Wand, assign Magic Missile, and add a single Magic Crystal Shard (10 mana)
  3. Give this Wand to the Apprentice
  4. Tell Apprentice to Follow Me
  5. Let Apprentice attack a mob that needs more than 2 magic missile hits (such as a large slime) until the Wand runs out of mana
  6. Notice that Apprentice no longer follows the player.

The only way to break the Apprentice's lock on its target at this point is the Apprentice death or removing the Wand from its inventory.
