This repository is used to track the source files of media assets that are used within the FreeOrion project.

This repository copies the structure of the data directory within the FreeOrion repository. The media assets should be placed in the same directory and have the same name as their in-game variant only differ by file extension.

If a media asset is the source of multiple in-game variants use the base name for sequences or the most detailed variant place.

Beside every media asset a Markdown file with the same name should be placed. This Markdown file should contain metadata about the asset authors, license, used editor and other relevant notes for other artists. A template Markdown file can be found in the root of this repository.

Pull requests to this repository are rejected by default. Please only open a pull request if specifically asked by the FreeOrion Art Team. To contribute to the FreeOrion project please refer to our How to Help page.

The assets are licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 Unported License.
