I have tried to look into this but as on my computer it doesn't seem to be really happening. Whoever this happens to maybe @oliversauter can you do a test where you record performance in both the regular testing tools and the "background" page testing tools. Then pause worldbrain and re-do the performance tests. Take screenshots or save the information somehow so we can do a side-by-side comparison to see hopefully find the difference and see what is happening?

@oliversauter Is this still happening for you with the latest master? After #73 (turning off freeze-dries/archiving by default), I'm not encountering any of the freezes on web apps (or any page), and I happily leave the extension running when I'm not working now without any noticeable interruptions. Not saying there's no other perf. issues, but turning off the freeze-dry/archiving has improved things a lot for me
