It can be done indeed. Using libusb on the PC and a custom protocol would be an option.
I lack both the motivation and free time needed to do such project.

Hi before creating an account for github and writing here i went throught a deep reserch and this is literally the alone and only result on Google that talk about this"PC games to PSVita using USB cable instead of Wifi" as something doable, i started from reddit there aresome people who ask about this but or there are few answers or are being ignored then to gba tempt and others places and i found nothing. I’m interested in using a psvita as a second monitor for displaying my pc screen and eventually playing games on it like a hdmi portable monitor of 5 inch and because i didin’t found nothing anywhere writing here is literaly my last stranding . The fact is that i was thinking on doing something like the" peakdo gaming handheld "that is like a nintendo switch monitor that use a hdmi wireless signal and have other ports on it , in short , but that is not what i want, what i would like to do is a wired connection between my pc an psvita ; i’m not interested in wireless or wifi solution because something like that isn’t really my cup of tea so if it was possible doing it wired i wouldnt mind having a cable if that give me zero input lag and zero signal lost . I know there are solutions like moonlight sunshine and ecc. but doesnt work for me . What i tried : at first i thinked about buying a 5 or 7 inch touch monitor and a backbone to accomplish that but then i saw my psvita (3g model) i thought why it can do the same , so i started searcing for info about the top port because i remembered that was a “hdmi” like the older psp, psp go version , but it turns out and im not sure of it that it is a usb that can be given different purpuse and its still unused . With adrenaline and pspdip i tried connecting and didnt work fro me even with my psp didint work i dont know why. And thats it i continued like this for about 5 months or more and now im here asking for your help if you can explain to me if something like this can be achived thanks and if ipothetically connecting it to a ps4 over usb remote playing without using wifi or something like the wiiu that didnt have input lag or loss of signal , or a hdmi to top psvita port to achive that i dind fing answere anywhere. Sorry for my inglish if its not understadable and for the long text but its frustrating searching for something and not finding a way or an answer, thanks and have a good day.

It would be great if you can do this, Xerpi. Networks aren't always great for Moonlight streaming, and USB is a nice way to get a PC game or emu on the Vita's screen.

Is there any standard USB (2.0) protocol to stream video? Do OSes support it without third party applications (that use custom protocols)?

This is basically the only result on Google when searching for PC to Vita streaming over USB, since every other result is Vita to PC, which I couldn't care less about

I've already tried Moonlight, but it's unusable due to the bad WiFi card in the Vita

I found a report claiming the DNS setting could influence speed (which is kinda awful considering others argued for the opposite). And best case scenario (which should be always achievable given your alternative is a literal cable) should be quite workable really.

Anyway the only protocol other than UVC that I know, is somehow adb tunnels (which both sysdvr and scrcpy should use, with native v4l2 support too.. maybe). EDIT: https://github.com/DeviceFarmer/minicap

Hi thank you so much for your answer, so I read all that you left to me and to the speed reachable for me is really low so I can’t go through Wi-Fi to play remote or moonlight ( connection make all the images like blurry with square ). The other talk about a way to sent video from switch or android to pc, what I wanted was the opposite receiving video on Psvita through usb (or the top port of the 1000 model) . So maybe I didn’t understand what you meant. If you can be patient and explain it to me . Thanks.
