Error: "Failed to run DockbarX preferences"

I got dockbarx and xfce4-dockbarx-plugin to run on Fedora 39 in spite of the issue xuzhen/dockbarx#11 by using export GSETTINGS_SCHEMA_DIR="/usr/local/lib/python3.12/site-packages/Dockbarx-1.0b3-py3.12.egg/share/glib-2.0/schemas:${GSETTINGS_SCHEMA_DIR}". I can add DockbarX now to the XFCE panel and it works as intended.

However, when clicking on "DockbarX Settings" in the XFCE panel plugin settings, I get the error: "Failed to run DockbarX preferences".

Do you have an idea what might be the reason for this problem? PANEL_DEBUG=1 xfce4-panel does not show any errors, and apart from the settings not working, the plugin and DockbarX seem to work as intended.
