Thanks for the bug report. This is mostly a "wont fix". I'll explain why:
I've just pushed a change (3b294b3) that adds a QMAKE variable to the Makefile. With this it is now possible to add 'QMAKE = qmake' to Makefile.conf (or just overwrite it in the Makefile without digging thru the rules). I'm hesitant to make 'qmake' the default, as this can be any Qt version, but Qt4 is needed (on debian qmake could be qmake-qt3 or qmake-qt4 depending on user settings).
Regarding readline and ncurses: This is an old bug in the readline build system. On some distributions libreadline.so does not contain the proper dynamic linking dependency to ncurses. But I won't add -lncurses to the default LIBS because on other system (such as my Kubuntu 12.04 LTS) readline is not using ncurses but tinfo as backend library. Adding -lncurses would make ncurses a dependency of Yosys, even though Yosys does not need it. Therefore I recommend adding 'LIBS += -lncurses' to Makefile.conf in your case.
