Screen.Recording.2022-05-03.at.13.12.45.mov

Usage

Install the support Julia package:

using Pkg
Pkg.add(url="https://github.com/andreypopp/julia-repl-vim")

Now when you start julia you can do:

using REPLVim
@async REPLVim.serve()

this starts a REPL server (default port 2345) the editor can connect to.

to start on a specific port run:

@async REPLVim.serve(<portnumber>)

In your .vimrc:

Plug 'andreypopp/julia-repl-vim'

to install the editor plugin.

In editor to connect to the REPL server:

:JuliaREPLConnect <portno>

Now <leader>e will eval the current line or the current selection in REPL as if you typed it directly.

REPL completions are also available,but not enabled by default. Enable with

let g:julia_repl_complete=1

in your vimrc

The <C-x><C-o> omni completion will query REPL for completions.

Credits

REPL server code is based on RemoteREPL.jl project.

julia-repl-vim's Issues

Support to define port other than default 2345

According to my understanding of this tool, there is currently no configuration file available to define the port number. The default port number, 2345, is hardcoded within the tool.
However, occasionally when I use this tool with others on the same remote server, we encounter interference problems due to the shared default port number.
I would like to suggest adding support for a configuration file that allows users to define their desired port number. Alternatively, if this feature already exists, it would be helpful to include instructions on how to configure it in the README.md file.
This would enhance the usability and flexibility of the tool, preventing conflicts and improving the overall user experience.
I suggest two ways to solve this issue.

  1. Add to support config file to define port number
  2. Can define port number in command line.
