I think this may be related to bones. On another model I found, which is stored off center, it actually ends up centered again in Hammer Editor/JACK/Counter Strike 1.6, roughly around the point where the bone position is. But the assimp conversion remains off-center. So I guess one might have to move/transform all the vertices so that centered around the bone. Tho idk exactly how one would deal with rotation in the bone struct, which theoretically can be set, or with multiple bones.

If you activate the display of the ground plane, it's exactly where I think it should be. Doesn't seem to be as simple as taking the first bone like I thought initially, though in one case it coincided (Bones can be drawn too as red dots).
