bloop's Issues

能否支持设置全局中文回答

What's the problem?
A clear and concise description of the problem. For example, I find... frustrating

What's the solution?
A clear and concise description of what you'd like to happen.

Additional context

Default question fails

Describe the bug
The default "What does this repo do?" question never gives a correct answer. Following questions work as expected.

Expected behavior
An answer that's not a "Sorry". :)

To Reproduce

  • Click on any repo.
  • Wait for the answer to the default "What does this repo do?" question.

Screenshots or output
image

Additional context

  • Using latest macOS bloop build available (v0.3.1)
  • Using both local (2x) and GitHub (1x) repositories.

[Feature Request] Natural language for GitHub Issues

What's the problem?
A lot of context for repos is located across GitHub issue threads.

What's the solution?
It would be nice to be able to ask questions about a codebase while taking into account the issue threads' contents.

Feature Request: Log Out

Currently cannot log out of the desktop build (I'm on windows).
Perhaps also a button to delete all local/config data so that you can essentially start fresh would be great too!

3.1 is not work in ubuntu 20.04

Describe the bug
try both deb and appimage
return this

Do I need to upgrade libc?

Can I use the custom model? such as Vicuna or Chatglm-6B

As a user of the Bloop I would like to request the ability to customize the default GPT-2 model with a custom model of my choice for conversation taking.

Currently, Bloop uses the GPT-2 model by default to take conversations based on the provided input. While the GPT-2 model is powerful and produces high-quality text, it may not always be the best fit for every use case. Some users may want to use a different model that is better suited to their specific needs or data.

Therefore, I suggest adding a feature that allows users to specify a custom model that Bloop can use to take conversations. This would enable users to use their own models or models trained specifically for their use case, potentially leading to better results and increased accuracy.

I believe that this feature would be a valuable addition to the Bloop repository and would greatly enhance its usefulness and versatility. Thank you for considering my request.
What's the problem?

What's the solution?
A clear and concise description of what you'd like to happen.

CMake Deprecation Warning at CMakeLists.txt:15 (cmake_policy):
The OLD behavior for policy CMP0104 will be removed from a future version

The cmake-policies(7) manual explains that the OLD behaviors of all
policies are deprecated and that a policy should be set to OLD only under
specific short-term circumstances. Projects should be ported to the NEW

CMake Warning (dev) at /usr/share/cmake/Modules/FetchContent.cmake:1282 (message):
The DOWNLOAD_EXTRACT_TIMESTAMP option was not given and policy CMP0135 is
not set. The policy's OLD behavior will be used. When using a URL
download, the timestamps of extracted files should preferably be that of
the time of extraction, otherwise code that depends on the extracted
contents might not be rebuilt if the URL changes. The OLD behavior
preserves the timestamps from the archive instead, but this is usually not
what you want. Update your project to the NEW behavior or specify the
DOWNLOAD_EXTRACT_TIMESTAMP option with a value of true to avoid this
    robustness issue.

I need help with local installation. I want to contribute into the project. I might be missing some packages in my laptop that I'm not aware of. Kindly help me with this.

Bloop 0.3.4 seems to reference different line numbers in explanations of code than what it is calling a line number in its preview?

Describe the bug
bloop 0.3.4 (Deb file on Ubuntu Cinnamon 23.04 x86_64) seems have a strange notion of what line number are associated with the line numbers in its preview versus the line numbers it references in

Expected behavior
If one asks, can you explain line number 23 repo:REPONAME lang:C, bloop should actually report an explanation of that line at least based on its preview?

Option to fill in own OpenAI key

It would be nice to have an option to replace the built-in key with our own OpenAI key. This is obviously not free for the user but it would be an optional hedge against OpenAI making it possible to see queries against a key such as one run by an external party and for those not wanting that code accessible to bloop's key.

[bug] wrong wording for no repo

image

Acutally my GitHub account is connected, but no repo is indexed. It told me to "Connect GitHub", but it's already connected.

The reply result will be truncated

Describe the bug
When I ask about the execution process of a function in a certain file, if the reply is too long, it may be truncated.

Expected behavior

  1. Hope to return the complete results of the answer.
  2. Provide more prompts to encourage users to continue asking.

[FR] Global Shortcuts to Invoke

What's the problem?
A clear and concise description of the problem. For example, I find... frustrating

What's the solution?
A clear and concise description of what you'd like to happen.

Additional context
Add any other context or screenshots about the feature request here.

// Just like Alfred or Raycast, allows user to open Bloop windows anywhere and perform quick search.

bug: The interface shows an error

Describe the bug
The interface shows an error
Occurs when clicking the button to the left of the chat box

Expected behavior
normal display

To Reproduce

  • win11 22621.1413

Screenshots or output

屏幕截图 2023-03-22 004856

Additional context

Requests are not scoped to the current repo

Hey there, thanks for the neat tool! Discussed that exact idea a few days ago with a friend, happy to see such a tool already live.

Describe the bug
Requests are not scoped to the current repo.

Expected behavior
When I click on a repo and ask a question, I expect the answers to only consider the current repository, not other repositories I may have sychronized.

To Reproduce

  • Click on a repo.
  • Ask a question.
  • See code from another repo.

Additional context

  • Using latest macOS bloop build available (v0.3.1)
  • Using both local (2x) and GitHub (1x) repositories.

Monorepo support

What's the problem?
It would be very nice that I could ask questions scoped to a single project in a monorepo or to all projects in the monorepo depending on my intentions.

What's the solution?
A root directory when adding a new repo would allow me to both create a repository for the whole monorepo and another one for just one project inside.

can't open app

Describe the bug

i Can't open app.(macOS Ventura 13.2.1 app:bloop_0.3.4_aarch64.dmg)

Screenshots or output

image

Additional context
I can still use it until April 6th

Light mode?

What's the problem?
I'm not sure what kind of eyes or monitors y'all have, but I find this dark mode of this app absolutely unreadable. It's dark gray text on dark background and it's basically impossible for me to read anything on this. No other apps with dark mode are that bad, but this one is 100% impossible to use because of that.

What's the solution?
Just add light mode :/ But also even in dark mode, the buttons for "Discord" or "Report a bug" are fine/reasonable, but most of the text is unreadable.

Additional context
Dark modes overall are pretty bad for many people with astigmatism.

no way to give only access to public repositories while authenticating with github

Describe the bug
I tried to authenticate using GitHub authentication. after providing github device activation code. On authorize bloop page there is no option to select only public repositories while giving access. I have provided the screenshot, where bloop is asking for access of both public and private repositories. is it possible to have option to select if user want to give access to public repositories only or both?

Expected behavior
option to select public repositories.

To Reproduce
download the app on linux
authenticate using github
after adding device authentication code
authorization page will ask for access to both public and private repositories.

Install on Windows without admin rights

What's the problem?
The .msi installer asks for admin privileges to install the software.

What's the solution?
In the enterprise it's very common that machines do not have admin rights. It would be good if it were possible to install without admin rights, or run without installation (by downloading an archive for example, and running from a user directory).

Extreme CPU usage and temperature when indexing repos

Describe the bug
I'm indexing repositories and I'm getting 100% CPU useage and > 100° temps that end up slowing down and crashing the PC

Expected behavior
Indexing smoothly with no excessive CPU use.

To Reproduce
How can we reproduce the bug? Helpful information could include:

  • Ubuntu 22.04.1 LTS / kernel 5.15.0-69-generic / AMD Ryzen 5 3600 (12) @ 3.700GHz / 32G RAM
  • bloop v0.3.4
  • index any github or local repository

The program 'WebKitWebProcess' received an X Window System error.

Describe the bug
I download bloop_0.3.2_amd64.AppImage.tar.gz from release page, and unzip it, start it from terminal. But the main window is always grey, nothing was show in the bloop main window.

Expected behavior
bloop start successfully

To Reproduce
How can we reproduce the bug? Helpful information could include:

  • launch bloop_0.3.2_amd64.AppImage

(WebKitWebProcess:693006): Gdk-ERROR **: 13:27:06.577: The program 'WebKitWebProcess' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadValue (integer parameter out of range for operation)'.
  (Details: serial 209 error_code 2 request_code 152 (GLX) minor_code 34)
  (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the GDK_SYNCHRONIZE environment
variable to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)

Additional context
I am running bloop on Linux:

$ uname -a
Linux Mufasa 6.2.7-arch1-1 #1 SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC Sat, 18 Mar 2023 01:06:36 +0000 x86_64 GNU/Linux

GitHub login does not work on Ubuntu 22.04 WSL

Describe the bug
I installed bloop deb version 0.3.4 on a Ubuntu 22.04 running on Windows WSL. I am stuck on the GitHub login step where the GitHub authentication process is no launched although the auth code is shown:

Here nothing happens.

Expected behavior
A github auth screen o open on a browser.

To Reproduce

  • Install WSL on windows 10/11
  • Install Ubuntu 22.04 app from microsoft store
  • Install bloop from 0.3.4 deb file
  • Run bloop

Screenshots or output

Additional context
Perhaps the problem is that the WSL has no default browser installed. I will investigate the issue.

Unable to remove Github repository

Describe the bug
I successfully added a private Github repo to Bloop. I then went to remove it in the "Manage Repositories" screen, but clicking the "Remove" button does nothing. Does not remove the repo, does not show any error messages.

Expected behavior
Github repository to be removed from Bloop.

To Reproduce

  • Bloop version 0.3.1
  • M2 Macbook Pro, macOS Ventura 13.2
  • Had indexed a local repository, and the Github one that I can't remove.
  • Go to the "Manage Repositories" screen
  • Click "Remove"
  • Observed that nothing happens - the repository remains in Bloop, and no error message is shown.

Screenshots or output
If applicable, add screenshots to help illustrate the bug.

Additional context

  • The Github repository and the local repository that I'm indexing are the same one. In other words, I'm indexing github.com/foo, as well as my locally synced copy of foo.
  • Restart of Bloop did not change behavior.

Unable to connect to any github repos

Hi folks, I installed this a few weeks back, and tried again today with the latest version. I get stuck on the github "select a repo" screen. It looks like it's stuck in a loading state or unable to connect to Github, and the UI is continually is in the flashing loading animation.

There's no way to remove and re-add the Github account, or repair the connection as far as I can see.

v0.3.3 Sync local repositories is not working and keeps on loading

Describe the bug
On my Windows system, I installed v0.3.3 but unfortunately, the Sync local repositories feature is not functioning properly. I have designated the appropriate folder where my git repository is located, however, it continuously displays the loading screen even after waiting for more than an hour (see the screenshot below).

Expected behavior
The local repository should sync.

To Reproduce

  • Downloaded and installed v0.3.3 from the releases
  • OS version: Windows 11 Enterprise, Version 22H2, OS build 22621.1555
  • Tried to sync a local git repository, it continuously displays the loading screen

Screenshots or output

[Question] How to install on Windows or WSL linux

Just saw bloop from a link on LinkedIn and wanted to test it out. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to (though it might be missing knowledge on my side).

I'm using windows 10 + wsl ubuntu and tried to install release 0.2.2

  1. Coudn't find an installation for windows -> I'm assuming an .exe or something similar
  2. Downloaded the tar.gz file on wsl (linux) and unzipped it -> Couldn't find a makefile.

The getting started guide only lists steps after the initial installation so it feels like I'm missing something 😀
