I have created a simple template that works fine in a browser. When trying to add it, it fails with the following:
[info] Received message from 127.0.0.1: CG 1-20 ADD 1 "THIRDS-TEST" 1 ""\r\n
[error] Turn on log level debug for stacktrace.
[info] Sent message to 127.0.0.1:404 CG ADD FAILED\r\n
I have added an html section to my config file, but connecting to localhost at the port specified fails. Is CEF not installed, or something? I think I installed this from a repo...

I'm using CasparCG 2.2 to playout graphics for a student TV station, we're using a Blackmagic Decklink card (I believe it's a Duo 2).
We're just using two SDIs on it - for Fill and Key output to our ATEM which then adds it to the mix.
I've seen on the forum that some say the sync between key and fill is only possible on the 4K Extreme card, but having spoken with Blackmagic support they don't see why this would be the case, so I wondered if this could be cleared up by you guys, please? ...we'd really rather not have to buy a more expensive card if we can help it.
The config we're using is below.
Thanks!

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone notice a performance issue when using a HTML link in CasparCG. I notice after about an hour of using a link, the RAM consumption and using the CasparCG diagnostic tool will jump to an alarming rate.
Hi!
Is it possible to drag and drop from windows to the rundown of a clip, or a command to externally insert a clip into the rundown?
We have our own MAM and it would be interesting to integrate it with the client. To generate a rundown there is no problem, but we need to be able to insert a clip from the DB in a fast way.
Any idea?
Was running Caspar as normal. PC crashes so perform a reboot. Now Caspar won't run. Tried powering everything off and waiting and booting up again. The script runs and then closes.
Please help!

Hi all,
We've been researching more and more into Caspar CG. Such a great program.
Not sure if this is the place to share this, but we're after some help!
We're having some issues with regards to integrating Caspar CG with our ATEM Switchers and using some of the advertised functionality. We have both a 2ME and 1ME 4K.
Is there any information or tips on how to get this working? We're most keenly interested in Auto-roll but also just in general how we can link these two systems together.
Thanks in advance!

Tested with HTML template and it works properly is this a bug with Photoshop producer or it just works this way?

We are currently using a mix of 2.0.7 & 2.1.0 and it would be nice to standardise our installations. We’ve produced an in house playout system which has been hardcoded to use the full file name plus the extension when playing out media clips and images, for example, test.mp4 or promo.mov.
This is what 2.0.7 expects but 2.1.0 requires the file name only. Does anyone know a fix or workaround to get 2.1.0 or above to accept a play command with file extension?
Unfortunately, it’s not possible to update or change the playout software at this point.
When I run: CINF AMB for instance, I get:
#200 CINF OK
"AMB" MOVIE 6445960 20170413102935 268 1/25
What are those numbers? Total frames? Length? Timestamp?
Hello all,
After more than 6 years of using CasparCG professionally without any (unsolvable) issue, a really strange issue has come up for a new channel i am building, which relates to SDI audio output when using Decklink Consumer in 720p5000 and 1080p5000 modes.
I will first show some screenshots of Diagnostics window that depict the problem and then i will explain the setup/configuration used for further investigation and help.
Below you can see the diagnostics from the real project setup when the audio issue has occured
The channel's output mode is 720p5000 and has the following loaded:
As you can see the buffered-audio graph is at the bottom. When this starts to happen, the SDI output has no audio! At the beginning when starting the server and loading all layers, everything is ok regarding the output audio. It is a matter of time (at random point) for the problem to begin. Once it happens though, it does not fix by it's own.
I have to note that audio is present when system-audio or even File consumer are used. It is only the SDI output that has no audio.
The same problem occurs even if i only load 1 Decklink Producer and 1 Decklink Consumer of the same video mode (720p5000 or 1080p5000) without any other layers used.
Below you can see the Diagnostics snapshots for both 720p5000 and 1080p5000 cases, before and after the problem shows up.
Below you can find some facts that describe the issue in more detail:
The specs of the Server used are the following:
CPU: i7-8700 @ 3.2GHz
RAM: 16GB
HDD: 2x 250GB SSD (Raid 1)
OS: Windows 10 Pro
Decklink: Quad 2
GPU: NVidia Quadro P2000
Is this a known issue or has anyone else dealed with it in the past? I did not managed to find any other issue related to this.
Is it the Decklink Driver? The OS (Windows 10)? The Quad 2? The GenLock or it's type? Any combination of them all?
Many thanks and kudos to Devs and the CasparCG community!
Hi everyone,
please helpe me :
Can I play my TS clip into SDI with Teletext?
Hi,
I've got a HTML producer configured and I'm attempting to send an update(...) command via TCP connector. When the command contains no spaces, it works as expected and executes the command. When the command contains spaces, it fails to execute, presumably as Caspar server is splitting the command on spaces, so it acts as if the sections after the space are a new argument.
Working command: CG 1-20 invoke 1 update("{\"FOO\"}")
Failed command: CG 1-20 invoke 1 update("{\"FOO BAR\"}")
Is there a correct way to escape the space, or a way to make this work? I've tried wrapping the update(...) in quote marks too, but that still fails.
No doc present for the HTML Producer just a "test" in the page.

Hi,
I am new to caspar and all of this. I am trying to get the system working so that I can use it for live graphics in productions and to play in videos. I have got the client and server up and working on a machine and slowly getting my head around it. the problem i am having is setting up so I can send a key and fill over black magic cards.
I have a decklink studio 2 with an sdi output and also a Decklink SDI with an SDI output. Is it possible to send the key to one card and the fill to the other card? If so what would the code be I have to put in the config file?
Thanks
Hi Guys,
question is it possible to use the invoke method in the HTML producer the same way as it does in the Flash producer?
KR,
Patrick
When I setup a recording like this
ADD 1 FILE "myfile 1.mp4" -codec:v libx264 -crf:v 23 -preset:v veryfast -filter:v format=pix_fmts=yuv420p,tinterlace=4 -flags:v +ildct+ilme -codec:a aac -b:a 128k -ar:a 48k
I get a mp4 file with 8 channels audio.
This file does not import in Adobe Premiere, only audio is accepted not video.
Are the ffmpeg parameters changed again?
Are there good examples for stereo or 4 channel recordings?
HI evrybody
I am trying to configure the CasparCG to output and/or play an NDI feed, I am looking for what is writing in github about, and in internet generally, two things I am missing:
<consumers> <newtek-ivga> <channel-layout>stereo [mono|stereo|dts|dolbye|dolbydigital|smpte|passthru]</channel-layout> <provide-sync>true [true|false]</provide-sync> </newtek-ivga> </consumers>
<consumers> <newtek-ivga /> </consumers>
thanks so much for your work !
When trying to install Template Generator 2.1.2 on Adobe Animate CC 2018, the extension manager says that the extension has installed fine but it doesnt appear in the list of installed extensions and the "casper" option wont show in the main-menu Window drop-down.
When initally setting up CasparCG on Linux (using the Docker Install) with NDI the CasparCG window told me it could not load the libndi.so.3 file despite me copying the lib files over from the latest newTek NDI SDK.
When using the latest NDI pack from NewTek the file names are:
libndi.so
libndi.so.4
libndi.so.4.5.3
Having re-named one of the files to libndi.so.3 it works and NDI works as expected. Can an update to Caspar make it look for just libndi.so ? rather than a version number?
Also can some brief instructions be provided on getting NDI working on linux for general use? Happy to help provide if required
I'm a beginner with CasparCG, I'm using the RedCast client and sending the signal via SDI.
But the sound is really bad, I do not know how to control the volume in the CasparCG. In RedCast the volume control in the setup menu does not work correctly.
So my question is whether there is any configuration to be made in the CasparCG "config" file to have the volume contolle. I really need help.
Hello!
A couple of weeks ago I experienced an issue with flickering output from Decklink cards_ when I tested a new hardware using CasparCG Server v2.2.0 Beta. After a bunch of tests and some chats with @Julusian and @ronag I finally found the issue and why the output flickered and wanted to share that information with you.
I can only confirm this when using video-mode 1080i5000
in CasparCG Server. I have also tested this by using CasparCG Server 2.0.7 Stable with same flickering results. All tests has been done using two completely different machines (see table below) to verify this issue.
The flickering seems to occur when using Black Burst-sync with Desktop Video v10.9+ and stops flickering if you use Tri-level-sync instead. However, using Desktop Video v10.8.x with Black Burst works well. Once again, I can only confirm this when using 1080i5000
and if somebody has more additional information please feel free.

The OSC Data section of the FFmpeg producer states:
All endpoints have a prefix of
/channel/[0-9]/stage/layer/[0-9]/
This is wrong. I believe the correct prefix should be: /channel/[0-9]/stage/layer/[0-9]/foreground
.
Hello, so I've had a play about with OSC on my project (https://github.com/CanterburyMedia/CasparCG-OSC-Now-Playing) - I'm now upgrading it to work with OSC from server v2,2.
It seems like the OSC output always says the file playback ie '/channel/1/stage/layer/10/foreground/paused' is always 'False' even when I tell it to pause via the CasparCG Client (2.2.0) and it does indeed pause the output.
I therefore think this is a bug, if it could be fixed that would be awesome!

When i play video files and html everything is ok, but i cant see anything if i trying play input from second Intensity pro 4k.
Could someone tell me where is my mistake? Thank you.
p.s. i can not register on Casparcg forum, no mail with activation in spam and deleted on my gmail.
When I load a Flash template saved in 1080p30 format, it appears very blurry in the output window. Sorry if this is an easy fix, I'm still really new to CasparCG.
Hi there
did anybody ever create a Knockout text template, wether using flash, html or photoshop producer?
Adobe flash/animate allows to create those while turning a shape into a Movie Clip, setting the blending mode of the newly created Movie Clip to Layer and creating another Movie Clip inside of the first one and setting the blending mode of this second Movie Clip to Erase. But casparCG doesn't recognize the double embedding of the text.
I also tried while using html template, but the css properties directly renders the effect while using the backgroud, which is not what we re looking for here.
The photoshop producer (which has desappeared in caspar 2.2, gloups!!!) does'nt render the mask effect properly.
If anyone has a brilliant idea ?
The wiki needs to have its content updated for 2.2, as it all is only accurate for 2.0 and so is really outdated and confusing to new users.
A discussion needs to happen on whether to approach this by cloning almost every page, or to split each page/heading into subsections, but I think it crucial we retain anything 2.0 for the time being.
Areas needing work:
I likely missed some pages, I only went down the sidebar and skimmed over the content
I've been working on building out a CasparCG system for use at convention events and things so far have been working with the exception that after about an hour the system starts to have issues with dropped/late frames, even if the system has been sitting idle and not outputting anything. Restarting the server process resolves the problem, but it will eventually start having the issue again after an hour or so. There doesn't appear to be any useful details from the logs:
server_log.txt
I guess my question is, is it normal to have to periodically restart the process so often?
The system is running CasparCG server 2.2.0 on a Xenon E3-1230 based system with a Decklink Duo 2 and a GTX770 video card running under Windows 7 w/ 8gb ram.
It was working fine but now it closes when I try to run it. Haven't changed configuration etc.
Log here...

Hello!
A couple of months ago @silid took the initiative to migrate the CasparCG Wiki from MediaWiki to GitHub. The last days the CasparCG Wiki have been moved from the server repository to this new help repository, in benefit of gathering help and documentation in one place.
This post is all about getting feedback about how the CasparCG Wiki can be improved to fit the community needs. All thoughts, ideas and feedback are appreciated and welcomed!
I'm trying to run the 2.2 beta on Ubuntu 18.04. I compiled CasparCG server through the docker scripts and it seems to work just fine. Having to also compile the media-scanner kind of tripped me up, but it seems to be somewhat working right now anyway. The problem I'm having is that while I can see all my templates perfectly fine, media-scanner doesn't actually seem to return anything on the /cls
endpoint which means nothing shows up for CasparCG. Running the little snippet present in the readme of the media-scanner project shows that it does pick up on removals and additions, so I don't think that's the problem. It's just that it doesn't forward the information in the database to the /cls
endpoint. Am I doing something wrong or is this a bug?
I don't know if it's useful, but this is what is returned running curl localhost:8000/cls
:
200 CLS OK
Thank you!
I have spent an embarrassingly large amount of time trying to get CasparCG running on Linux in AWS! My ultimate goal is to have CasparCG running in a cloud environment, ideally on Linux/Docker and without Nvidia GPU, hopefully allowing it to be run on any cloud provider, however I have attempted to build/run on both Linux and Windows within AWS, both with and without GPU instances, and nothing has worked.
Before getting into specific issues and errors, I thought it would be worth going back to the community and asking which of the following 4 scenarios are known to work:
Cloud VM (Ubuntu), native install
Cloud VM (Ubuntu), running within Docker
Cloud VM (Windows Server)
As well as experiences with the above, if anyone can provide instructions or system requirements for getting up and running within any kind of AWS/other cloud VM then I would be hugely grateful and more than happy to submit a guide to the Wiki.
Many thanks
Hello awesome people!
I decided to make a modern NDI producer and consumer.
Probably my code isn't of high quality, definitely not pull-request-ready, but somebody may find it useful. If you decide to test it out, any feedback is welcome.
(It requires NDI Redistributable to be installed in your system.)
Currently it supports only Windows and BGRA/BGRX pixel format. Here I'm looking for advice.
Using YCbCr, especially for sources that don't use alpha, could bring better performance but NDI uses packed UYVY, while, if I'm correct, YCbCr in CasparCG is planar. Two solutions I have in mind are: using Swscale (I don't think it will be very efficient) or adding UYVY support to Caspar's core to allow the conversion to be performed on the gpu. How would you approach this problem?
No doc present for the Scene-Producer.
https://github.com/CasparCG/help/wiki/Scene-Producer
The help tet should state correct version of OpenGL (4.. something)
Help claims that openGL 3.0 is required, which is wrong.
"A graphics card (GPU) capable of OpenGL 3.0 is required..."
Good evening,
My name is Carlos and I work in a Government Company for Brazil, we have been using the CasparCg system for at least 4 years. We were using version 2.09, but with the casparcg update to the newest version it was necessary to update the caspar client to version 2.2.0.
Due to the update we are having problems with the video contacter, which was previously in Frame.
In the Caspar Client settings I already changed the Inspector Tab to Frames, but I didn’t get the change in the Video Contacter.
I really want your help to resolve this issue, Thank you.
Hello guys.
I created an animation in the animate of a CG crawl integrated with RSS, but the animation is freezing at the exit of black magic.
Would anyone have a animation model or any tips to decrease the freezing?
When I use this
ADD 1 FILE "myfile 1.mp4" -codec:v libx264 -crf:v 23 -preset:v veryfast -filter:v format=pix_fmts=yuv420p,tinterlace=4 -flags:v +ildct+ilme -codec:a aac -b:a 128k -ar:a 48k
I get a mp4 file with 8 channels audio.
When I use this
ADD 1 FILE "myfile 1.mp4" -codec:v libx264 -crf:v 23 -preset:v veryfast -filter:v format=pix_fmts=yuv420p,tinterlace=4 -flags:v +ildct+ilme -codec:a aac -b:a 128k -ar:a 48k -filter:a pan=stereo| FL < FL + 0FC + 0BL + 0SL | FR < FR + 0FC + 0BR + 0SR
I should get a file with stereo audio, but there is no sound.
I only get silent audio.
Is there something changed?
Hello... sorry if this isn't the place for this, but I'm a producer at CNN in London and we're looking at possibly using CasparCG for a new project. I've been playing with the software and working on a custom controller for our exact use case and have been absolutely blown away at what it's capable of.
Ryan McKenna at BBC Scotland suggested I join the Slack channel, but it seems to be locked down to a few email domains.
Is there any way I might join with an @cnn.com address?
Thanks!! And thanks for all the work you've done on this project so far. It is really amazing.
Hi
I've created an html template to slide a text from left to right. I've used css to animate the text. the result in the browser(firefox, chrome, ...) is good but when I want to play the template on casparCG the result is not good becuase the movement of the text is not smooth and shakes while moving. What causes this problem?
If anyone has an idea?
Thanks

I don't know, what the intention of this section is, but it seems, that most of these issues would be better served when posted in the forum. I found issues covering Decklink configurations back from 2019, that are still unresolved. In the forum that does normally not take that long :)
For all, that do not know: The forum is at https://casparcgforum.org/.

Can someone help? Thank you
We're using HTML templates with CasparCG and trying to pre-load and set parameters (CG UPDATE) on a template before showing it.
The AMCP page says of CG ADD "Prepares a template for displaying. It won't show until you call CG PLAY (unless you supply the play-on-load flag, 1 for true)". However we're finding that
This is on version 2.0.7.e9fc25a Stable
VERSION
201 VERSION OK
2.0.7.e9fc25a Stable
Calling CG ADD without play-on-load:
CG 1-9999 ADD 0 html/slates/LIVE
402 CG ERROR
but with play-on-load=0:
CG 1-9999 ADD 0 html/slates/LIVE 0
202 CG OK
At this point the template has already been shown.
Has the meaning of play-on-load changed in v2.0.7 or is this a bug? Is there another way to pre-load and configure an HTML template before showing it?
Hello, I'm pretty sure OSC messages have changed in 2.2, can this be updated in the osc page on the wiki please?
I thought I saw some documents on this somewhere on the internet but can't find them now, which is a pain as I want to update my OSC adapter so that it reads the CG messages again.
Thanks guys!
