You should go to the bibliography style in packages/unccspecs.sty and remove one of the \vspace{\baselineskip} spaces

The latex template for dissertations we have has a problem with the appendices part. They have the word chapter showing in front of the appendix (i.e. CHAPTER 2: APPENDIX)

Does anybody have a fix to this problem? I got this revision after submitting the final version and I am struggling with it.

I appreciate any help. I have to submit my dissertation as soon as possible and the template has this issue.

Based on my recent dissertation formatting review experience from the graduate school, the format for the dissertation title on the "ABSTRACT" page seems incorrect.

For example, in the current format, it's
"ZHOU TENG. Surface-based 3D Object Modeling, Detection and Pose Estimation in
Cluttered Environments for Robotic Manipulation. (Under the direction of DR.
JING XIAO)",

However, the graduate school suggests
"ZHOU TENG. Surface-based 3D object modeling, detection, and pose estimation
in cluttered environments for robotic manipulation. (Under the direction of DR.
JING XIAO)"

Based on my recent dissertation formatting review experience, in the current format, the space between the title "ACKNOWLEDGMENTS" and the first line on this page seems too large, it should be the same as the space between the title "ABSTRACT" and the first line on that page.

In the unccspecs.sty file, I commented one line "\vspace{\baselineskip}", the following format seems correct.
