artwork's Issues

LICENSE

Is it possible to add a LICENSE file with either a license or a instruction on how to use the logos?

(A LICENSE file is the convention most GitHub users are used to.)

I was just looking for a CNCF and Kubernetes logo to add to a presentation, and now I am not sure under which conditions I am allowed to use the logos in this repo.

Visio Stencil

It would be really handy to have a Visio stencil with these logos in them.

Kubernetes SVG icons contain broken path

Hi, I was investigating a problem with Kubernetes SVG icon used by DevStats, see: test server vs prod server
Screenshot 2019-05-16 at 07 28 53
Screenshot 2019-05-16 at 07 29 16

The test server has an additional white "b" letter visible under the K8s SVG icon. What is more interesting is that it cannot be seen when displaying an icon in a separate page (probably due to white background): direct link to broken svg, also displaying that SVG in GitHub does not show this "b" letter.
I've manually fixed that on prod server by editing SVG file in vim (changing first path object into patha object which is the same as removing first path object):

Changed to:
Screenshot 2019-05-16 at 07 33 25
I was wondering what exactly this path object is, so I've installed Inkscape app to see and it's clearly visible that path object with id="bbbbbbb" is outside of the main viewport.

There is probably the same problem with black and white SVG icons too, maybe also other files where its-pronounced property was added recently.

helm can not install or update if k8s service exist ,but k8s service must remain as it is prod environment.

we want convert exist k8s service format to helm, but remain k8s service

we excute the command:

helm install topevents --set AppName=topevents,Environment=prod,ServiceArea=analyticsservices ./

Error: rendered manifests contain a resource that already exists. Unable to continue with install: Deployment "topevents" in namespace "analyticsservices-prod" exists and cannot be imported into the current release: invalid ownership metadata; annotation validation error: key "meta.helm.sh/release-name" must equal "topevents": current value is "topenvents"

yes, i know why.

but just want to know how to solve this issue.

Clarification of logo usage

Hi,

I have been looking at the License and at the linked trademark usage page here: https://www.linuxfoundation.org/trademark-usage/ in order to figure out if its allowed to get the logos printed as stickers/magnets to give out at events. I know you point to certain logos being available in a CNCF online store, but when that is not sufficient are you allowed to get them printed yourself?

For clarity, this is for giving away at local cloud native community events for free.
I just want to make sure its not a copyright infringement.

Thanks!

Ambassador logos

Please put the stacked and horizontal ambassador logos on their own row on the Readme.

Switch to relative URLs in Readme

Every URL in the Readme is pointing to your fork instead of the main repo. You need to use relative URLs.

Change every URL of https://github.com/alexcontini/artwork/blob/master/prometheus/horizontal/color/prometheus-horizontal-color.png to /master/prometheus/horizontal/color/prometheus-horizontal-color.png

Start with just one to confirm the relative URLs are working correctly. Please Slack me with questions.

Separately, you seem to be using an undocumented feature of GitHub in accessing https://github.com/alexcontini/artwork/blob/master/prometheus/horizontal/color/prometheus-horizontal-color.png (which normally serves HTML) instead of https://raw.githubusercontent.com/alexcontini/artwork/master/prometheus/horizontal/color/prometheus-horizontal-color.png (which just serves the PNG). But it's working, so it's probably not worth changing.

KCCNC 2019

Please create logos for the 3 KCCNC events in 2019. No need to add them to the Readme.

Proper transparency for cloud gopher image

@alexcontini You converted the SVG from Ashley into PNGs. This produces some transparency around the border at https://github.com/cncf/artwork/blob/master/other/illustrations/ashley-mcnamara/cncf-cloud-gophers.png but the center of the picture is white.

However, Ashley's version of the PNG had transparency everywhere for white, causing printing on grey to look like: https://twitter.com/phennex/status/932698316068081666

@ashleymcnamara as the artist, could you please tell us how to best handle transparency. Ashley, also note that the PNG you originally sent looks fine on desktop Twitter at https://twitter.com/dankohn1/status/930057718785888256 but on a phone the transparent background shows as black. I converted the PNG to a JPEG and reposted in a reply to avoid that issue.

Here's the PNG Ashley prepared:

And here's a screenshot of my tweet looking bad in Twitter on iOS:

Any suggestions?

Please add a readme.md with guidelines for logo usage by members

Could we get a readme.md added to this repo that covers logo use by members?

https://github.com/cncf/artwork/tree/master/cncf

something along the lines of this:

http://www.linuxfoundation.org/collaborate/workgroups/networking/trademarkusageguidelines

and include this as well:

https://github.com/opencontainers/artwork/blob/master/LICENSE

So member's corporate marketing team's feel a bit more comfortable about using the logo on their sites

Help on adding sandbox project (vineyard) logo to artwork

Hi @amye and @poconnor1,

(I'm not sure here is the right place to get help about artwork from CNCF service).

We are the team behind the sandbox project vineyard and we are in the onboarding process. It seems that CNCF could help on artwork artifacts and we would like to know could CNCF help us to convert our logo (in .ai format) to required variant versions (horizontal, stacked, icon, and png/svg formats)?

I have uploaded our logo's AI file in this issue.

Thanks!

Conscious Logo / Diverse logos?

Hey,

to support diversity in our community I was wondering if the artwork team can help to create diverse logos of the cncf projects. Can it?

Provide CNCF logo with background

Provide CNCF logo with background so that it works nice with backgrounds.

For example, KEDA uses CNCF logo on its README which is fine with standard GitHub theme:

But those using black theme see this:

Helm Logo has bad reflection

The Helm Logo's bottom section is reflected into the top of the wheel when loaded with Adobe Illustrator 24.2.3 (tested on MacOS 10.15.7).
