acse's Issues

Edited saves not compatible with translated Animal Crossing E+

When I export my dolphin save it is in the USA format but after I edit a save it is saved in the JPN format which Dolphin won't allow me to import. Dolphin will allow me to import the edited save into the JPN memory card but not the USA one.
Maybe this can be fixed if there is an option to save the edited save in either the USA or JPN format.
I am using the latest dev version of ACSE and Dolphin.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

Support for 动物森林 (iQue Animal Forest)

The iQue Player release of Animal Forest has probably the most easily accessible save files of any version not running in an emulator. The Player's .sta save files open fine in this editor, but the fonts are obviously incorrect. Would it be at all possible for support for this game to be added? It could be a great help, though it would probably require a lot of work to correctly display all the assets.
Here's a save file from an iQue Player, in case it helps. I have no idea what the .u01 file is, but it might be a part of the save data so I included it.
(00201b2c is 动物森林's content ID in hexadecimal, which is how it's used internally by the Player.)

Trouble Launching (How to Open?)

I don't know if I'm missing something, but I don't know how to get the save editor to run at all.
I can open the old Gamecube only version, but not this one. I'm sorry if I'm missing something obvious.

Loads Wild World save as New Leaf save

I have an Animal Crossing: Wild World save that I'm trying to edit. But every time I load it, the program loads it as if its a New Leaf save. This leads to it not detecting the things that it expects an Animal Crossing New Leaf save to have, leading to an error.
My save file is using the .sav file extension, I think this might be the cause of the error, as New Leaf saves also use that file extension.
A simple fix for this would be to let the user decide what the program loads the save as.
I am using the newest build (in fact, I just downloaded it)

Various Suggestion and Willing to Help!

Hey @Cuyler36 , recently I found this software and have been really excited using it. I tried looking up tutorials on youtube, but there were none. After about 4 hours of tinkering and such I have gotten a hang of the software and I feel inspired to make a few tutorials with the approval of you. There were a few things with the software that I found to be annoying after a while, most having to do with the acre editor tool. The first is that while it is useful to have the option to see every layer of a certain acre (lowest, lower, middle, upper) it really clutters the screen and makes looking for acres difficult. The next issue might just pertain to my level of understanding, but I feel like the naming system for acres is kind of inconsistent. Also This last one isn't really much of a problem if the others are taken into account, but if there was an option to switch between the acres being organized by AR code (like it is) and by name it could make for a more user friendly interface. If you need help I can certainly do my best with whatever assignment you would like me to do. I don't know C#, but I can learn if you need me to. Thank you so much for this wonderful software and if you would like to hear more please message me.

Problem with Animal Crossing Wild World shops.

On Animals Crossing Wild World, when you go from one shop to another, (ex. From nook n' go to nookington) the number of available items in the store does not increase, rest the same number of items you had before changing shop with the tool.

Population Growing - Ability to change statue and re-assign orphaned museum donations

Hi there! Do you think it could be possible in Population Growing for the statue type to be changed for a certain player? I deleted my first character many many years ago so my remaining one has been stuck with the silver statue for a very long time. I always had hoped for the ability to change it to gold somehow.

The same goes with the museum donations. If it could be possible to change the orphaned ones (donated by former resident) to assign them to an existing character.

Thank you so much!

Windows 8 Issue?

I recently downloaded this program on a Windows 8 PC. Once I launched it, nothing happened (the program didn't appear). I checked task manager and it seems that when I open the program, it only opens for a few seconds, then disappears.

.fla gets corrupted upon saving. (Animal Forest)

I don't know if I'm doing something wrong, but all I'm doing is opening the .fla of my Animal Forest game in ACSE, saving, and running the emulator, and I get the little K.K. Rider sequence saying that my save got corrupted and I need to reset my town. I have tried this multiple times doing the same thing to the same save and it just keeps corrupting.

[ACCF] No villagers found.

I want to change a villager in my save : he's inbox and I want to make it back to normal. But when I load my save, ACSE does'nt find any villager in the villagers tab.

Mail editing support?

This is my first-ever post on GitHub so please bear with me.

Is it possible/wise to add support for deleting mail in my character's personal letter box? I was messing around with time capsules and ended up with two stuck in my letters with no ability to delete them, bury them, store them, or in any other way remove them from my character's letters. Just opening up the garden_plus.dat in Notepad I see that mail is stored there including the wretched time capsules.

Looking through your source code, I see that you have a class for it though no option to edit it in the actual editor. I tried using marcrobledo's editor for this issue but in his code he wrote, "TO-DO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" next to his offset for PLAYER_LETTERS. Haha.

Is this a planned feature for your editor? Do you have any advice for how I might delete these time capsules? I'm only a novice with programming otherwise I wouldn't bother you but would try and figure it out on my own; for now, it is certainly a daunting task. I am glad there are people like you who are so helpful! Thank you for all your efforts on this editor, by the way! It's quite robust and very useful.

Feature Request - Edit Museum Donations

Any way to change the person associated with a museum donation?

If you use the editor and change a player character's name it changes all donations on the board to say the new name. In game, if you demolish a house (delete the player), the donation board now says "Anonymous" for the donations from that player. So I imagine it must link back to the Player ID per donation, and should be something we could point towards a different player character.

I would also imagine from here you could use this to add/delete donations, giving the ability to clear the museum and start donating again.

Cross Platform Support

Native Cross Platform support would be a nice feature. Currently, MacOS & Linux users need to use a wrapper of some sort to attempt to run ACSE on their OS. To make ACSE cross platform, a cross platform UI library would be needed and the entire UI would need to be redone.

[GCN] Weather Doesn't Save

Whenever I load my town with the editor, it always says the current weather is Snow. When I change that to something like Rain, it doesn't even set and the town just looks the same.

wild world won't work

whenever i try to use my wild world save, this message pops up and doesn't load.

Support for granular catalog modifications

Hey! This seems like a great tool! However, I'm curious -- what would be involved in figuring out the order of items in the catalog data and adding support for adding/clearing them individually? I'm trying to use your tool to fixup a savefile, and am considering adding the functionality myself. Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

This is for the GCN version btw

Animal Forest Save

This isn’t an issue with the program, but since you know how to edit the files of Animal Forest, I wanted to ask: Do you know how to fix a corrupted save? Whenever I load my town in Animal Forest from my main player, it freezes and does not continue. However, when I select the new option and play as a new player, it successfully loads the new player. I think this might have something to do with the save numbers or something, because I rememebr fixing a New Leaf Save by changing the last saveID. I’m not sure though, if you could help, then thanks! Sorry for posting this here.

(DS) catalog

when i put to fill catalog and go to the game it only gives me some items but not all in the game

[GC] Appears to corrupt island data

Game Version: Animal Crossing GameCube, North American version (ID GAFE01)
Release: ACSE 0.4.1
Emulator: Dolphin 5.0-11719
OS: Ubuntu 19.10 x86_64
(ACSE run through WINE with .NET 4.7.2 installed. Issue persists on Windows 10)

Issue:
Animal Island cells are removed upon modification of game save, leaving unloaded areas.
image

Reproducing:
Upon editing a save, exiting, and reloading a modified save, ACSE properly loads the modified cells. Upon loading of modified save, Animal Crossing deletes the cells. Exporting the reloaded, modified save and opening it in ACSE shows the cells have no acre data.
image

The cells do not appear replaceable through further edits.

Additional information:
AR codes applied when discovering this bug (Rolf's 'Go Anywhere' and '16:9 Widescreen 2.0') do not appear to affect island generation. This was tested by creating a new town and visiting the island.
image
Debt does not appear to effect island generation.

Potential Errand Bug?

(Applies to NTSC Animal Crossing for Gamecube)

After editing a save where I had an errand for a villager in progress (going to pick up an item), a strange bug happened. When I select the "I'm picking up!" prompt, the game acts as though I'm delivering the first item in my inventory to the villager.

image
image

If I choose to give it, my player gives nothing, the villager gets angry, and the game softlocks with my player frozen in place mid-giving animation.

image
image

If I don't choose to give it, the villager just gets angry and I can move, but I still can't complete the errand.

I've been playing this game for years, and I've never encountered this bug on any save file until now, so I think ACSE caused it somehow. I'm using the latest release. What might have caused this, and is there any way to debug this on my end?

[GC] Can't get edited town onto Dolphin memory card

Hi everyone.

Probably just an error on my end but currently trying to get a map I edited in ACSE onto the Dolphin memory card for use in game. After saving my progress in the editor and using the "Import GCI" option to convert my edited file over, the save file displayed shows the name of my unmodded town and loads as my old, unmodded town in game.

The file opens and saves as the new, edited town in ACSE but converts as my old town on Dolphin and ingame, can't seem to stop this from happening.

[GCN] Change Island Name

You are able to change the name of the town, but it would be nice if you could also change the name of the island.

crashing

every time i open acse and go file>open to pull up my garden_plus.dat file it crashes

Save File Load Error with Dolphin Emulator (Australian version compatibility ?)

Latest version of ACSE downloaded.
Using Dolphin Emulator to play Animal Crossing for the GameCube.
Exporting the save file to GCI as the tutorial states to do.
ACSE gives an error stating:
"The file [FileName.gci] could not be identified as a valid Animal Crossing save file.
Please ensure you have a valid save file."

Both other export types (.sav and .gcs) have been tried and the same error occurs.
Not sure what to do.

EDIT: After looking at the Closed Issues, I saw that there was previously issues with PAL files (GAFP)
I am using the Australian version which is GAFU, I'm assuming that GAFU is not yet supported and is most likely the issue here.

Animal Crossing City Folk Issues?

So when editing my Animal Crossing City Folk town, I ran into multiple issues with the editor. The first being that my birthday shows as this
image . Second, when editing my acres, they show up as this?
image I'm not sure if that's supposed to happen. The same happens with my town map. Also,
image how come I can't edit the Weather/Native Fruit? Finally, none of my villagers appear in the villagers section, which is blank. I can't change my house size either and my roof color.

(ACCF) Player Find Error

Hello, when i run the application and open my dolphin save file, a pop up text box shows up and says "No Player was found on the file!" How can I fix this??

Add QR Pattern support

I don't really know whether this is viable but in any case I'll ask it. Free feel to delete.

Would it be possible to enhance this app giving it the ability of reading the QR patterns? Maybe even adding it in a retro-compatible way for games that don't have this function? Or maybe patterns have changed too much for this to work?

Regards and thanks for the work!
