Hi, I believe that the correct way to set the --headless mode is by passing --headless=true instead of --headless alone as I've seen in one of the examples (detectnet-camera at least).
Here is an example session where you can see --headless=true working, while --headless alone fails.
drakorg@drakorg-desktop:~/workspace/nspi$ python3
Python 3.6.9 (default, Apr 18 2020, 01:56:04)
[GCC 8.4.0] on linux
Type "help", "copyright", "credits" or "license" for more information.
>>> import sys
>>> import jetson.utils

>>>
That's the reason detectnet-camera example does not work from commandline despite specifying the headless switch, as seen below:
drakorg@drakorg-desktop:~/workspace/nspi/scripts/jetson-nano/jetson-inference$ detectnet-camera "rtsp://admin:[email protected]" --headless
URI -- missing/invalid IP port from rtsp://admin:[email protected], default to port 554
[gstreamer] initialized gstreamer, version 1.14.5.0
[gstreamer] gstDecoder -- creating decoder for admin
nvbuf_utils: Could not get EGL display connection

NvMMLiteOpen : Block : BlockType = 261
NVMEDIA: Reading vendor.tegra.display-size : status: 6
NvMMLiteBlockCreate : Block : BlockType = 261
[gstreamer] gstDecoder -- failed to discover stream info
[gstreamer] gstDecoder -- try manually setting the codec with the --input-codec option
[gstreamer] gstDecoder -- failed to create decoder for rtsp://admin:[email protected]
detectnet: failed to create input stream
drakorg@drakorg-desktop:~/workspace/nspi/scripts/jetson-nano/jetson-inference$ detectnet-camera "rtsp://admin:[email protected]" --headless=true
URI -- missing/invalid IP port from rtsp://admin:[email protected], default to port 554
[gstreamer] initialized gstreamer, version 1.14.5.0
[gstreamer] gstDecoder -- creating decoder for admin
nvbuf_utils: Could not get EGL display connection
Opening in BLOCKING MODE
NvMMLiteOpen : Block : BlockType = 261
NVMEDIA: Reading vendor.tegra.display-size : status: 6
NvMMLiteBlockCreate : Block : BlockType = 261
[gstreamer] gstDecoder -- failed to discover stream info
[gstreamer] gstDecoder -- try manually setting the codec with the --input-codec option
[gstreamer] gstDecoder -- failed to create decoder for rtsp://admin:[email protected]
detectnet: failed to create input stream
Now, if you see how detectnet-camera handles the switch, it only adds "--headless" to the argv (under some condition), while it should be "--headless=true".
