One thing I noticed is it takes 2 clicks to open a story after running a search. The middle pane sort of reloads/refreshes upon the first click. The 2nd click triggers the story load. I made a screen recording:

It looks like client can not retrieve top items from HN.

You can’t use this version of the application “HackerNews” with this version of macOS.
You have macOS 10.15.6. The application requires macOS 11.0 or later.

It would be really nice if you could navigate between stories and comments using the keyboard arrow keys.

Clicking the small arrow to expand child comments for a particular parent comment is cumbersome. I'd like all comments to always be expanded. Additionally it would be nice if you could toggle this behavior with a keyboard shortcut.

After launching the app, clicking between these two categories a couple of times causes the app to crash. This happens every time I open the app.

I would consider this a very optional feature, but still a nice to have. Loading a text preview (first 2-3 lines) of a linked article, if possible, or a small poster frame/icon would be nice for visual scrolling or checking whether it's worth it to open links in a browser.

• Text could be from article or site body, only shown if possible to scrape
• Icon/picture could be favicon/thumbnail of the site/whatever

Obviously this would increase the number of requests and data size used by the app, but some opportunistic loading could take the edge off that. Given that, and that a lot of people just prefer text, it would definitely be an opt-in feature.

I'm happy to do this myself.

I was using the pre-released version for more than a month.

Recently I get this error when trying to open the app

“HackerNews” will damage your computer. You should move it to the Trash.

Probably the code used to sign the app was revoked by apple. Can you fix that or provide some docs on how to build the app locally?
