fuzzy-text-international's Introduction

Fuzzy Text International

This is a watchface for the Pebble. It is originally based on the PebbleTextWatch by Mihai Dumitrache, which reproduced the look of the Text Watch that comes standard with the Pebble.

Mattias Bäcklund created a modified version, Swedish fuzzy text watch, that displays fuzzy time. Mattias wanted to combine the elegant layout and animations of the Text Watch with the natural language of the Fuzzy Time watchface, and wanted it in his native language, Swedish.

This version builds upon the work by Mihai and Mattias: it supports multiple languages, and provides options to change the visual style.

Features:

  • Fuzzy time in natural language
  • The large and easy to read fonts of the original Text Watch
  • Nice staggered animation
  • Between one and four lines of text, depending on need
  • Smaller words may share a single line (such as "fem i")

The following options can be configured, using the Pebble app on your phone:

  • Invert colors (white-on-black or black-on-white)
  • Text alignment (centered, left, or right)
  • Language

At this time the included languages are:

  • English
  • French
  • German
  • Norwegian
  • Spanish
  • Swedish

Authors

Thanks to all of the people who made this watchface possible:

  • Mihai Dumitrache, implemented an open source version of Text Watch
  • Mattias Bäcklund, created Swedish fuzzy text watch
  • Jesse Hallett, added configuration options and multiple language support
  • Filip Horvei, provided Norwegian translation
  • Tomi De Lucca, discovered fix for a severe iOS bug & assisted with Spanish translation

Dutch translation

Hi Jesse,

I like your "fuzzy time" Pebble watchface very much. Is it possible to add Dutch to the list of languages? I would love to contribute and provide the exact wording for the various times to you.

I've pasted proposed strings-nl.c file for the Dutch language:

--Ivo

const char* const HOURS_NL[] = {
  // AM hours

  "een",
  "twee",
  "drie",

Slovak translation

Hi,

I would like to provide you Slovak translation for the watchface. But since Slovak is not very easy language, I'd like you to contact me so I can help you with the translation

Bahasa Indonesia Translation

Hi Jesse,
I am new to Pebble as well as to GitHub.
Your "fuzzy time" Pebble watchface is very interesting and I would like to contribute Indonesian translation, Bahasa Indonesia.
Please find proposed strings-id.h and strings-id.c files for Bahasa Indonesia below:

Support for number agreement

French and Italian use plural forms when referring to most hours, but use singular forms when referring to "une" or "una".

Finnish translation

Emailed patch for finnish translation. Required some changes to code as well, finnish words are just too long for chosen font.

German words too long for display

Hi,
great watchface.
In German the words "fünfund" and "zwanzig" (25) seems to be too long for the display.
The last character is like an X in an rectangle box.
Ist there a possibility too change the fond size, or another fix in mind?

best regards
Joerg

German Translation

Hi,

Could you please fix the translation of "one" to "eins" ?
Currently it's translated with "ein".

Greetings

Italian Translation?

hi, my name's Valerio and im from Italy.
i want to ask you if you can add an italian translation because its a long long time that i look for this watch face.
maybe i can help you with the translation, but my "developer knowledge" at moment is very low.
thank for your attention, hope that my wish come true.

Brazilian Portuguese translation

Hello, I am willing to add a Brazilian Portuguese translation.

The thing is that we have two descriptions for hour names, one for full hour until hour plus 30, the other for hour plus 35 until hour plus 55, so ideally the hour strings should be as follows (xx:00-xx:30 / xx:35-xx:55):

AM times:

00:00 meia-noite / a meia-noite
01:00 uma / a uma
02:00 duas / as duas
03:00 três / as três
04:00 quatro / as quatro
05:00 cinco / as cinco
05:00 seis / as seis
07:00 sete / as sete
08:00 oito / as oito
09:00 nove / as nove
10:00 dez / as dez
11:00 onze / as onze

PM times:

Same as AM, except for: 12:00 meio-dia / o meio-dia

  1. Would you consider altering the display code to use the string before the separator for :00 - :30 and the string after the separator for :35 - :55?
  2. The longest string I can think of would be "vinte e cinco para a meia-noite". Would that fit?
  3. the * for bold must be in the first position of the string or can it be in the middle of the strings (e.g., "a *meia-noite")?
  4. Would the "ê" in "três" display correctly?

Thanks!

Added translation for swiss german

Hello

I just added the translation for swiss german.
If you want the files just ask me (but unfortunately I'm not used to Git).

Vertical text alignment

Love this concept, but I think the watch would be much more attractive if the text was always vertically centred, regardless of how many lines there are,

Suggestion: Graphical instead of numerical visualization of minute offset (-2..+2)

Sorry please ignore -- this was for a modified branch of this SW. Please exuse.

Hi,

Thanks for a good work!
I particularly like the graphical and thus inconspicuous visualization of the battery indicator.

I propose to have a similar graphical indicator for the minute offset , currently displayable as (-2) to (+2). An implementation could be a dot at five positions from left to right, similar to the star currently shown for 0 minute offset. This would underline the clock display layout design without any numbers.

Best regards,
marohh

Translations Croatian (HR) and Dalmatian (DM)

Hey, there!

I just made two translations for the fuzzy watchface, that I'd like to submit.
The first is (regular) Croatian (HR), the second is Dalmatian (I marked it as DM), which is a local dialect spoken in the coastal area of Croatia.
I'd love to see those implemented and I hope I did those as they should be.
Uhm... I'm new to this github stuff... how do I submit those files?

Cheers,
om.

Belgian Dutch translation

Hi

Can you implement Belgian dutch translation?

    };

Portuguese translation request

Hi,

I wonder if we could have a Portuguese translation added to the watch ?

I already translated the strings to portuguese. We don't really use the '25 minutes to..', but rather the 'something 35', so the strings also reflect that. Not sure if that's ok with you.
The strings are for Portuguese from Portugal, not the BRazilian variant.

Also changed the US to PT.

const char* const HOURS_EN_PT[] = {
  // AM hours
  "doze",
  "uma",
  "duas",
  "três",
  "quatro",
  "cinco",
  "seis",
  "sete",
  "oito",

  "dez",
  "onze",

const char* const RELS_EN_PT[] = {
  "*$1 em ponto",
  "*$1 e cinco",
  "*$1 e dez",
  "*$1 e um quarto",
  "*$1 e vinte",
  "*$1 e vinte cinco",
  "*$1 e meia",
  "*$1 e trinta e cinco",
  "*$2 menos vinte",
  "*$2 menos um quarto",
  "*$2 menos dez",
  "*$2 menos cinco"
};

I would do the rest, but I have no idea how, sorry...

Almost perfect

Couldn't find anywhere else you leave a feature request, sorry...

Love the clean look, but missing Bluetooth status. Could there be an option to invert the display on loss of Bluetooth connection?

W

Time resets to 6:00

Whenever you return to the watch face after using the Pebble menu, step counter or schedule, it first shows the correct time, then six o'clock, then the correct time again. Something similar seems to happen with other languages selected too.

German translation and font size

Fine work. Well done. Just one flaw. German "zwanzig" in "Zwanzig nach drei" does not fit into the screen. It says "zwani".

Solution would be adjustable font size in the settings.

Settings screen is blank in iOS

Users report that the settings screen works on first use. But the next time it is opened the banner displays, but the rest of the page is blank. Uninstalling and reinstalling the watchface does not help.

Announce Fork

Don't know if it is the right place for announcing a fork.
Thanks for your great work. I take the project to learn (both - programming for pebble and hadling git again).
My fork has some additions and allows to configure an custom language where you can put your strings for the hours and the rels. You can find it under https://github.com/Roemke/Fuzzy-Text-International-TT
