Actual behavior

I had downloaded this app soo far and today i made an account in it. After that i opened it and want to delete the account which i had made before.
After clicking the account and then rotated the to landscape mode in the settings of the account in this app. When i clicked on delete option mentioned on the top of the page in landscape mode. The app suddenly crashes.

How to reproduce

Download the app from f droid.
Make an account in it.
After that open the account by just clickinh on it.
On the top right corner of the page click on 3 dots.
Here appears setting option click on it to open.
Rotate the phone to landscape mode.
After that click on delete option.
Unfortunately the app will crash.

Looks like your gradle files are messed up, InboxPager/build.gradle and build.gradle are the same. The later however is for the root project and should contain the buildscript section.. something like:

Also note that you have mismatching version information (version "1" and "1.0" are not the same) and you minsdk differs.

Sync initiates, downloaded ~30 mails (out of ~1750), & stopped permanently afterwards.
Each time I press sync now displays the following error:

Some mail servers use STARTTLS command instead of separate TLS port. Would be nice if those are supported as well (both imap and smtp).

First thing first, thank you for sharing your code and your app.

I have been using your software for some past months and now it is starting to fail. The main issue I have is when trying to refresh my inbox using a GMail account.

2 weeks ago, I started to received the following message when I try to resfresh the inbox:

com.android.org.conscrypt.OpenSSLECPublicKey cannot be cast to java.security.interfaces.RSAPublicKey

I think this could be related to certificates. Maybe in

I have certainly not changed my GMail configuration. Did you notice any change from Google Services itself?

Looks like you commit only the app direcotry, so the actual root-project and it's build.gradle and settings.gradle are missing.

I tried setting up my email, but when I clicked "Refresh All Inboxes," it showed "Action failed (see log file).""Errors / Exceptions" showed "nullException:'mail.encavo.net' != 'null'" and "Exception:'mail.encavo.net' != 'null'". I have been able to setup my email on other email clients. I do not know why this one is problematic.

It would be great if there was an option to limit the number of messages pulled.

Expected behavior

The attached file ought to stay saved on the application, on any screen orientation, be it portrait or landscape.

Actual Behavior

After attaching a file, on screen rotation the file gets missing immediately.

How to reproduce

• Download and install the application InboxPager and Ol file manager
• Lunch the application
• Click on the option by the right hand corner
• Select Add account
• Fill in all necessary details about the account
• Then click save
• Select the account
• Click on the option in the right hand corner
• Select send message
• Fill in all necessary details
• Click on the Add attachment
• Select the file using Ol file manager
• After selection
• Rotate the screen to landscape

And the attached file gets deleted immediately.

I found a defect in class DigestUtils,

Pre - import org.apache.commons.codec.binary.Hex;
Should - import org.bouncycastle.util.encoders.Hex;

And replace the Hex,encodeHexString method to encodeHex

Full message encryption (S/MIME) would be a great addition.

Hmm, I was too optimistic when in #8 I've mentioned that it works with gmail. It does start fetching messages and even fetches few of them but eventually fails with:
Problem

and then java stack trace for Java.lang.String:579

The same inbox works with k9mail.

The issue is permanent - if I try again it immediately stuck on the 1st message so it seems like some message in my inbox somehow breaks InboxPager but I'm not sure how to determine which one it is to manually inspect for anomalies using thunderbird or smth else.

Expected behavior

The attachment ought to be used in adding documents, images or any attachment to the mail.

Actual Behavior

After clicking on the add attachment, all fies becomes unable to be attached to the message.

How to reproduce

• Download and install the application here
• Lunch the application
• Click on the option by the right hand corner
• Select Add account
• Fill in all necessary details about the account
• Then click save
• Select the account
• Click on the option in the right hand corner
• Select send message
• Fill in all necessary details

And see that is impossible to add attachment to message.

any plans to support email signing and encryption/decryption with pgp?

First of all the app looks amazing and I'll definitely be following it. Congrats!

I would love if it was possible to filter messages only from selected contacts. There is another FOSS app - Delta chat - that does that, but it has a number of other issues that make it not a choice for me.

I was hoping inbox pager would fill in the gap! Any way kudos and keep up the good work!

Problem Statement:
Managing new/incoming mails is painful - especially if you need to scroll a long list. More so, when you need to restart from the top of the list after each operation on any mail.

Proposed Solution:
Enable a filter to show only unread/new mails, or at least the ability to sort by time (descending).

Issue:

The app is fetching 2k mails (1by1) then usually crash perpetuously.

Scenario:

Hello. Does it work on Android 4.2.2? Android 4.2.2 requires e-mail client. We can help in testing.

The application can't sync my gmail account. After adding a Gmail account and press the sync button a pop-up appears with "a0 BAD Too many argument provided [16 alphanumeric string]".

Attachments can have a long description. This is currently not implemented.

Inbox Pager (v4.2) crashes on deleting messages from server.
It's a behaviour I could notice already on the 4.1x test versions used in troubleshooting #26.
The notification gets to the point of displaying "message deleted" but then IP crashes.
I tried this with mails from different senders, with the same result. It's always repeatable.
I'll try to get a logcat later.

Downloading attachments with Quoted-Printable transfer encoding are saved as plain text quoted-printable. The data should be converted to file data, however a working algorithm is not present.

This issue doesn't really affect usability, it's more cosmetic. As you can see in the screenshot below (I masked everything irrelevant and underlined the issue-spots with red) "Umlaute" from the german language aren't respected properly neither in the mails themselves, nor in the Inboxname. It does work fine in the "Send Message" section.

affected are ü and ä as far as I can see, probably ö and maybe ß as well. I suspect the fonts used here do not support these characters?

This really doesn't have high priority, I just wanted to address it and let you know about it

Inbox Pager v4.3.12 crashes on Samsung Galaxy Note 10+, Android 10.

It runs fine when initiated from scratch, adding a new account, syncing, but then fails to display inbox/messages.

I think you might have a little issue with your German localization:

I am doing my first refreshing with inital data sync. The splash screen with the spinner says "erfrischend". Now this does translate to "refreshing" but to the adjective (as in "I find this App very refreshing"). reference

I guess what you want is the verb (as in "I am refreshing your mail data") and here the correct joice would be "aktualisiere". reference

So my suggestion:
in your German localization file replace "erfrischend" with "aktualisiere".

4.3.12 from F-Droid appears to archive the message instead of delete when delete from server is selected. I'm not sure if this is a wontfix or a bug.

I gave a try to the problem I asked for yesterday and I got it working on my GMail account. Since I cannot push a new branch in order to create a new PR due to permissions issue, I post here an Android Studio patch for you to consider.

first of all many thanks for the app!
Unfortunately i encountered a couple of issues:
with smtp: smtp.tiscali.it i can't send emails, the following error dialogue appears: EHLO requires valid address
with smtp: mail.keytech.it i can send e-mails but no email is saved in sent folder on imap server.
