tabliss's Issues

New search engine

Hi,
Can you use the default search engine of the browser ?
if not, it's can be good to add Duckduckgo, Qwant and Ecosia.

Thank !
Az

Russian language & other features

Hello! I really like your add-on, it's very beautiful and awesome! But I didn't find in it my native Russian language. I could help to translate the extension, or at least it would be nice to be able to manually enter certain lines.

The second problem concerns search engines. I would very much like to see the search engine Yandex.ru and Mail.ru. In the same way it should be nice to have the ability to set custom search engine, it can be very useful for many people. For example, define a certain field of the domain and the question itself:
https://yandex.ru/search/?text=%question%

Thank you, I look forward to your reply.

Option to set time by +/-GMT

Could you have an option to set time by +/-GMT.

This would allow different time zones than the current system time.

There are times when I want to work by or keep track of other timezone. Also on firefox about:config?filter=privacy.resist.Fingerprinting changes the browser time from the system time (switches it to GMT).

[Suggestion] Search box tweak

The distance between what you type (specifically the p's and q's of the alphabet) and the line you type it above seems too close. Perhaps adding a few pixels of padding would resolve the issue. Or thinning the line. Or both.

[Suggestion] Add display style for uploaded images

When uploading images, we currently have no choice for the display style resulting in some cropping.
It would be nice if we could choose the style (centered, streched, scaled, zoomed) and the background color (filler for the scaled view).

Loading a logo for sites in 'Quick Links' widget

It would be nice if the sites linked to in the 'Quick Links' widget would be represented by their logo instead of the link. Maybe displaying both could be a good idea too, or only displaying the link/name, if the mouse hovers above the according logo.

Timer

Hi,
The page load a new picture at every new tab.
It's can use a lot of bandwidth, and it's kind of perturbing.
Do you think it's possible to add a timer to have new image every 1h or 1 day for example ?

Thank
Az

Font family being used is missing in the settings pane

Hi Joel, First of all I'd like to thank you for this very elegant web extension.

It would be nice if, under widgets > fonts in the settings pane, the Family of fonts being used could be selected using a dropdown list. Also, I suppose the default family font being used is the default family font set in the browser's settings, so it would equally be nice if that would be set by default in the settings pane.

[Issue] Cursor does not go to URL field upon new tab on Mac OS X

On my Linux box - when I open a new tab with tabliss, it will automatically put my cursor in the URL field so I can immediately start typing in an address or search.

On Mac OS X - this isn't automatic and I have to hit โŒ˜+L to get my cursor to the URL field.

I'm on High Sierra and using FF 59.0.2.

Focus for today

It would be great to have a simple "focus for today" field ร  la momentum. It should clear every morning (or user-defined interval), and have a single checkbox that also clears it.

Random Colour Gradient

it would be cool to have new random (from-to) Colour Gradient
with same option available when rotating images (random color every newtab, 15min ...)

Tabliss does not rotate every new tab

With the latest version of Firefox (59.0.1), opening a new tab does not change the background. On the previous version it was working. No action was made that would change the behavior.

Same behavior happens in the web version. In order to reproduce, go to the web version and open two tabs. The default image should be the same. No configuration was changed.

Spotify playback widget

This is part one of a two part suggestion to also integrate currently playing album art to the new tab page.

Add a new widget to allow previous/pause/next track from the new tab page and display the currently playing track and artist in the format of <Track title - Artist Name> below the playback buttons.

https://developer.spotify.com/web-api/get-the-users-currently-playing-track/
https://developer.spotify.com/web-api/start-a-users-playback/
https://developer.spotify.com/web-api/pause-a-users-playback/
https://developer.spotify.com/web-api/skip-users-playback-to-previous-track/
https://developer.spotify.com/web-api/skip-users-playback-to-next-track/

Recently Closed Tabs

New empty tabs are stored in Recently Closed Tabs menu
This makes Ctrl+Shift+T much less effective

Spotify playlists/album art background

Add a new background type to load the users last 30(?) played tracks and display the album art as a grid and on hover display the track name and play the song on Spotify if clicked on.

[Feature request:] Add Favorites at the top of the settings pane

It would be really nice if we could add our favorite bookmarks, i.e. those we use most frequently, to the top of the settings pane, just under the title tabliss and above the Background settings.

By default, you could populate the Favorites section with the top sites (1-9) that one finds when clicking a new tab (when we're not using your extension!). It would just be a limited list of sites.

Would also be nice to be able to drag and drop sites from the url address bar to this section to add a new favorite site.

Personally, I'd find this particularly useful for visiting the social networks that I visit each day (e.g. G+, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc...). Then, clicking on a favorite site would open it in the current tab. You could add the thumbnails to the favorite sites right under the 'Type to search' text box.

[Suggestion:] Allow users to upload and download their custom list of search engines

Geoffrey (Smile4ever) and I have developed the web extension Context Search which also uses a list of search engines. I thought it would be nice if both extensions could share the same list.

In our extension, we made it possible for our users to download their custom list of search engines for backup and sharing purposes. We store the search engines list in storage sync. If you're able to access the search engines in storage sync and use that list to populate the search engines in tabliss, then that would be awesome and our two extensions would complement each other nicely. Alternatively, you could offer to upload a custom list of search engines to your users.

Let me have your thoughts...

Suggestion: add high definition favicon

Hi man,
I'd like to suggest, when you have time, to add a high definition favicon to Tabliss.
I only noticed it recently, in Mac retina display (because in my personal computer, with HD screen, it is hard to differentiate).
Thanks!
Gabriel

v1.11.0 completely breaks (on some locales?)

When tabliss was updated to v1.11.0, this is the result:

screenshot from 2018-03-27 17-13-53

This appears to have been introduced in 656e558 and to be caused by

export function getConvertedDate() {
return new Date(
DateTime.local().toLocaleString({
year: 'numeric',
month: 'long',
day: 'numeric',
hour: 'numeric',
minute: 'numeric',
second: 'numeric',
// Drop timezone information as its already been adjusted
})
);

toLocaleString returns 27. Mรคrz 2018, 17:20:08 on my browser which Date() cannot parse.

Todo list

Would be great to have a simple todo list ร  la momentum.

Use of process.env.* fails API use in development

When running webpack-dev locally, process.env is undefined. Since API keys are stored in this location, they get resolved to null. This causes a black background with Unsplashed enabled, and a completely black screen (requiring a hard reset) with Dribbble enabled.

Todo List & Notes

First of all thank you for sharing, I love it!

It would be great if you could add a few GTD Widgets like:

  • Todo Lists
  • Notes
  • possibility to import tasks from other apps such as (Zenkit, Wunderlist, Trello, ...)

Thumbnail creation

First of all, thanks for this great extension.

I've some issues with thumbnails which are not always fully rendered.
Here is an example :
capture d ecran 2018-02-15 a 23 31 29

PS: I'm using Firefox on macOS
The pictures are on an NFS share.

FeatureReq: Tweet the daily quote

It would be really nice to be able to tweet the daily quote that shows up, by having a simple small twitter icon right next to it.

Note: I can help in development, I am just not sure about the web side of things. I do have a tweet api setup in my readme as here and in other projects.
It is a simple link which you feed Encoded text

 <!- Check the href part-->
<a href="https://twitter.com/intent/tweet?text=Sensey%3A%20Android%20library%20which%20makes%20playing%20with%20sensor%20events%20%26%20detecting%20gestures%20a%20breeze%F0%9F%98%8E&url=https://github.com/nisrulz/sensey&via=nisrulz&hashtags=AndroidDev">

        <!- this is the badge image -->
        <img src="https://img.shields.io/twitter/url/http/shields.io.svg?style=social"/>
    </a>

The final link shows up like this

Here is how the link is broken down

  1. <a href="https://twitter.com/intent/tweet?text=

    The tweet intent

  2. Sensey%3A%20Android%20library%20which%20makes%20playing%20with%20sensor%20events%20%26%20detecting%20gestures%20a%20breeze%F0%9F%98%8E

    Url encoded text, use this tool to decode and encode

  3. &url=https://github.com/nisrulz/sensey

    Url to include

  4. &via=nisrulz

    Add via text

  5. &hashtags=AndroidDev"

    add a hashtag

Custom CSS For Advanced Users

It would be great if there was a location for advanced users to simply supply CSS to edit the view themselves.

There are a lot of small edits I would love to make, but they add up to a lot of dev time to add UI for very simple changes. It would be awesome if I could change them myself.

For example, a few edits I would make are:

  • change the opacity on the Unsplash darken div to make it darker
  • add a CSS blur filter to the background
  • change the link style to remove underlines on hover
  • change the links to inline-block so more could be on one line
  • add drop-shadows to the text

They are all simple edits that are a matter of personal preference, and it would be great to be able to play with them.

Allow to set different fonts for different widgets

I'm not sure about a clean way (UI-wise) to implement this, but that 28px sized quote of the day under my 28px sized clock is hurting my eyes :(

The plugin is amazing, I really like it. But I really think this should be a feature. It could allow for bigger and smaller elements on the page, accomplishing a cleaner look.

Maybe instead of a global font setting (that is now located in the widget list, as a widget, which is a bit confusing) a little font/gear/settings icon could be placed on the right of each widget setting panel to allow for a custom setting for that specific widget.

I don't have a lot of time, but I may take a look at the code in the next weeks if this feature is interesting to you and I come up with a decent way of implementing it.

Anyway -and again-, thumbs up for the amazing project.

Rotating among custom images

Amazing alternative to momentum, thanks! Would be really cool to allow to upload a bunch of custom wallpapers.

Problem with latest version on firefox

Sadly I only see a black page. It started a couple of days ago and today I found time to have a short
look.

The dev console outputs this:

TypeError: t is undefined [Learn More]
main.134b549c6442.js:5:16771

If you need any help debugging this, just say what you need and I will try to help.

[Firefox] New Tab doesn't restore on restart

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Open some websites in Firefox
  2. Open a single new tab. Make sure its the last tab
  3. Press Shift + F2
  4. Type restart and press Enter

Actual results:

After restart new tab is missing

Expected results:

New tab should not be missing

This also happens when restarting Firefox for update

Bug opening new tab when using 2 monitors

Context: I'm using a Mac and Firefox Developer Edition 57.0b5 (64-bit), Tablis 1.2.1, last updated Oct 04, 2017. I'm using another monitor connected to this Mac.

Problem: When opening a new tab in this second auxiliary monitor, I cannot start typing right away because the cursor is not automatically in the address bar. I have to click the address bar to start typing.

However, when opening a tab in the Mac, this problem doesn't exist as the cursor is already automatically in the address bar.

Thanks
Gabriel

Daily background rotation doesn't work

I think this is a great extension; it's beautiful and simple and I like being greeted with my name. :-) I'm experiencing this problem however:

I've set the background to Unsplash and "Show a new photo" to daily from the Official collection. However the background never changes; I keep seeing the same background for days. I'm using Tabliss 1.11.2 on Firefox for Linux.

Make daily quotes not daily

I would like to have them per-tab, not daily. After a while it gets boring to see the same quote over and over again.
