Menlo for Powerline

Menlo font patched to work with Powerline. Menlo's always been may favorite font to use on OS X while programming, but I was annoyed that I couldn't find a properly patched file anywhere. After a bit of trial and error, I managed to create a working version. If you find any errors with the font, please let me know.

OS X

1. Double click the font in Find and select "Install this font." It will appear to have some very strange glyphs but will work as intended.

2. If you use MacVim, add the following line to your vimrc:

set guifont=Menlo\ for\ Powerline

3. For use with Terminal.app or iTerm, change your settings according. You should select your font as Menlo for Powerline.

4. Enjoy!

Linux

NB: I have not actually tried this, but it should work. I don't have access to a Linux machine, but these commands should be correct.

1. Copy Menlo for Powerline.ttf into your ~/.fonts directory. (Or any X font directory)

$ cp "Menlo for Powerline.ttf" ~/.fonts

2. Update your fonts cache.

$ fc-cache -vf ~/.fonts

If you're in a terminal, you may or may not need to restart all windows before changes take effect.

3. If you use gvim, add the following line to your vimrc:

set guifont=Menlo\ for\ Powerline

4. For use with the terminal, change your settings according.

5. Enjoy!

Bold, Italic, Bold Italic

As far as I know, these extra font styles should work. I've had absolutely not problems with them, however, you may run into an issue. I added them as to provide support for bold, italic, and bold italic fonts within the terminal. Please let me know if you have any issues.

menlo-for-powerline's Issues

Diacritics displayed on wrong character when writing in Cyrillic

When using Menlo (the original one), the diacritics in “Богоро́дице Де́во”, are on the third “o” and the second “e”, as they should be (I believe, I do not speak Russian).

When using Menlo for Powerline, the are on the “д” and the “в”; i.e., they appear on the character after the one they should be on.

macOS 10.12: Arrow glyphs not aligned properly

The arrow glyphs are not aligned correctly, see attached screenshot.
I'm using Terminal with OMZ with powerlevel9k theme on macOS 10.12.2. But I think this really is a font issue.
Thanks in advance for your help!

Patched version introduces ligatures

The original Menlo doesn't have ligatures, but this patched version does.
Please be true to the original version, without ligatures, and just add the Powerline symbols.

VScode WSL does not work with the font..

I followed every instruction in the Linux part but it does not work in VScode, I am on Window and using WSL

No LSB modules are available.
Distributor ID: Ubuntu
Description: Ubuntu 20.04 LTS
Release: 20.04
Codename: focal

Here is what I get after I restarted VScode.

Asking for more details

Hi,
Could you please be a little bit more precise in your readme file and explain your modifications ?
Installing the fonts on windows shows that they lost the monospace attribute (like the Meslo variant have).

Mac terminal still misses icons

Hi,
I've installed the font but the small icons still don't appear (using the fish shell with the omf theme "bob-the-fish"). Actually I've never had any powerline-patched font display those nice icons in the terminal.app. It only works in iTerm2. It might be a limitation of the default terminal app and not related to your patched font.
