The original Menlo doesn't have ligatures, but this patched version does.
Please be true to the original version, without ligatures, and just add the Powerline symbols.

The arrow glyphs are not aligned correctly, see attached screenshot.
I'm using Terminal with OMZ with powerlevel9k theme on macOS 10.12.2. But I think this really is a font issue.

I followed every instruction in the Linux part but it does not work in VScode, I am on Window and using WSL

No LSB modules are available.

Here is what I get after I restarted VScode.

When using Menlo (the original one), the diacritics in “Богоро́дице Де́во”, are on the third “o” and the second “e”, as they should be (I believe, I do not speak Russian).

When using Menlo for Powerline, the are on the “д” and the “в”; i.e., they appear on the character after the one they should be on.

Could you please be a little bit more precise in your readme file and explain your modifications ?
Installing the fonts on windows shows that they lost the monospace attribute (like the Meslo variant have).

I've installed the font but the small icons still don't appear (using the fish shell with the omf theme "bob-the-fish"). Actually I've never had any powerline-patched font display those nice icons in the terminal.app. It only works in iTerm2. It might be a limitation of the default terminal app and not related to your patched font.
