docker-arch-build-aur's Introduction

No longer maintained

Use valdar/docker-arch-build-aur instead.

It's pushing images to both quay.io and hub.docker.com.

Build AUR packages

The following command will download AUR package and build it:

$ docker pull maximbaz/arch-build-aur
$ docker run --rm -v $(pwd):/pkg maximbaz/arch-build-aur /bin/bash -c '/build-aur <package>'

Build repo packages

The following command will download repo package and build it:

$ docker pull maximbaz/arch-build-aur
$ docker run --rm -v $(pwd):/pkg maximbaz/arch-build-aur /bin/bash -c '/build-repo <package>'

Build PKGBUILD

The following command will build local PKGBUILD file (must reside in a folder mounted to /build):

$ docker pull maximbaz/arch-build-aur
$ docker run --rm -v $(pwd):/pkg -v $(pwd):/build maximbaz/arch-build-aur /bin/bash -c '/build-pkgbuild'

.SRCINFO file will be updated/created in /build directory.

Compiled package location

The binary will be placed in the /pkg folder, which in the example above is mounted to the current directory on the host.

Based on archlinux/base image.
Updated daily with GitHub actions.
Sources are on Github.

Update .SRCINFO as part of the package build process

As part of the /build-pkgbuild script update the .SRCINFO file as well.

This is an essential part of the building process for package maintainers that might use docker from a non archlinux system.

The CI scheduled actions seems to be disabled

I think that due to inactivity in the repo the CI github action has been disabled.

Few tips & tricks regarding docker image

Hey.

Check out my fork of your repo. Everything is the same, except this part: https://github.com/erkexzcx/docker-arch-build-aur/blob/master/Dockerfile#L3L5

pacman -S --noconfirm pacman-mirrorlist is needed otherwise when I try to compile a kernel, it tries to download multiple dependencies. Some of them, for unknown reason, fail to retrieve (e.g. imagemagick). It turned out that I have to force reinstall pacman-mirrorlist so it's kind of forced mirrorlist refresh. This step fixed the problem to me.
sed -i 's/#MAKEFLAGS="-j2"/MAKEFLAGS="-j$(nproc)"/' /etc/makepkg.conf basically replaces #MAKEFLAGS="-j2" with MAKEFLAGS="-j$(nproc)" in /etc/makepkg.conf so docker image uses all available cores when compiling certain apps.

Error using `maximbaz/arch-build-aur:latest` build image on fedora

I get the following error if I try to use maximbaz/arch-build-aur:latest to build my AUR packages:

error: failed to initialize alpm library
(could not find or read directory: /var/lib/pacman/)

the error seems related to #12 in fact if I rebuild the image locally adding:

Broken CI job

Hello, it seems that your CI job has been broken for some times.

Looking at the error and digging a litel bit I think that this is the cause: https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/69563

and this the workaround qutebrowser/qutebrowser@478e4de

building aur fail which is caused by file extension name

Running

/bin/bash -c '/build-aur standardnotes-desktop'

result:

mv: cannot stat '*.pkg.tar.xz': No such file or directory

After digging into container, i found that the built package ends with "pkg.tar.zst" not ".tar.xz"

Failed to build chromium-vaapi

Got a problem about absence of libffi.so during build.
Workaround (command to run): pacman -Syyuu --noconfirm && /build-aur chromium-vaapi

Sudo command not found

Running the following example:

$ docker run --rm -v $(pwd):/pkg maximbaz/arch-build-aur /bin/bash -c '/build-aur aurutils'

Results in
